As we enter the eighth year of the Bush-Cheney administration, I have belatedly and painfully concluded that the only honorable course for me is to urge the impeachment of the president and the vice president.
After the 1972 presidential election, I stood clear of calls to impeach President Richard M. Nixon for his misconduct during the campaign. I thought that my joining the impeachment effort would be seen as an expression of personal vengeance toward the president who had defeated me.
Today I have made a different choice.
Of course, there seems to be little bipartisan support for impeachment. The political scene is marked by narrow and sometimes superficial partisanship, especially among Republicans, and a lack of courage and statesmanship on the part of too many Democratic politicians. So the chances of a bipartisan impeachment and conviction are not promising.
But what are the facts?
Bush and Cheney are clearly guilty of numerous impeachable offenses. They have repeatedly violated the Constitution. They have transgressed national and international law. They have lied to the American people time after time. Their conduct and their barbaric policies have reduced our beloved country to a historic low in the eyes of people around the world. These are truly "high crimes and misdemeanors," to use the constitutional standard.
From the beginning, the Bush-Cheney team's assumption of power was the product of questionable elections that probably should have been officially challenged -- perhaps even by a congressional investigation.

How we look in the eyes of foreigners is an impeacheable offense?
I thought he always was there.
Its amazing how fast this story has spread in one day on the internet. I do a google search, and bam, tens of thousands of mentions of this. Old liberal geezer McGovern comes out from under his rock after not being hear from in a long time, and says the predictable thing: Impeach Bush, and THAT is treated as major news.
Good to see the leftist media doing what they can to keep the moonbats agitated.

My response to McGovern; “Whatever, Loser.”
McGovern, America’s verdict on you was clear. Hell, even your OWN STATE didn’t want you to be President.
On April 25, 1972, George McGovern became known as the candidate of “amnesty, abortion and acid.”
George McGovern, who ran an anti-war crusade against incumbent President Richard M. Nixon
McGovern: “He (Cheney) also said that the McGovern way is to surrender in Iraq and leave the U.S. exposed to new dangers. The truth is that I oppose the Iraq war, just as I opposed the Vietnam War, because these two conflicts have weakened the U.S. and diminished our standing in the world and our national security.”

George McGovern, the former senator and Democratic presidential candidate, said Thursday that he will meet with more than 60 members of Congress next week to recommend a strategy to remove U.S. troops from Iraq by June.
McGovern will present his recommendations before the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a 62-member group led by Reps. Lynn Woolsey and Barbara Lee.
“The best way to reduce this insurgency is to get the American forces out of there,” McGovern said. “That’s what’s driving this insurgency.”
McGovern told the audience Thursday that the Iraq and Vietnam wars were equally “foolish enterprises” and that the current threat of terrorism developed becausenot beforethe United States went into Iraq.

George McGovern, the former South Dakota senator and presidential candidate, endorsed Hillary Clinton (WHO VOTED FOR THE WAR!) in Iowa City
Hey McGovern....you are so old hat. You are from the “old days.” I remember you. You were nothing then and you are nothing now so...YOU GO!!! Besides...aren’t you a little late saying Bush should go? He IS going. He ISN’T running again. He has served two terms and his administration is coming to a close. So, you now say he should go? You’re a joke and a half.
So, why don’t YOU GO and try and do something constructive with your life and...FOR our country.
Just repeating it over and over again doesn't make it so... Exactly what did they do, according to your charges, you old coot?

For those that were around when this guy was someone, was he always a crackpot?
McGovern was part of the pro-communist congressional cabal that cut off U.S. funding and military support to South Vietnam. Within months the RVN was overrun by the Soviet-backed North Vietnamese Army.
McGovern knows on some level he was horribly wrong. Decades of death, oppression and misery followed for the South Vietnamese. Eisenhower’s “Domino Theory”—maligned by the press—came true. The blood of millions of people are on McGovern’s hands.
Yet, McGovern, John Kerry, Jane Fonda and their ilk can’t ever admit they were wrong. Instead they grab at any flimsy straw to keep the feeble hope alive that they are somehow the real heroes. History is catching up with these traitors.
And I can say with no fear of contradiction that George McGovern is as clueless as they come. In a region where they only show respect to the biggest MFWIC who carries the biggest stick, slapping Iran upside the head may be the absolute best way to increase our influence there, while simultaneously rescuing Western Civilization from long-term subversion and eventual collapse at the hands of the barbaric hordes.
Bin Laden's "strong horse, weak horse" theory is about the only thing that he got right - but those with weak memories and an even weaker understanding of "the way that the world works" would have you believe just the opposite. McGovern, Carter, Clinton and their ilk have made their careers out of trying to force the United States into a posture of weakness. That's what led to 9/11.
Hey, George, I was a foolish and inexperienced kid when I voted for you back then.
Since that time I have grown up. What's your excuse? Why haven't you?
What a load.
