CASPER, Wyo. Mitt Romney grabbed the early lead in Wyomings Republican caucuses Saturday as the state had its brief moment in the political spotlight sandwiched between attention-getting contests in Iowa and New Hampshire.
The former Massachusetts governor gained the first four delegates while California Rep. Duncan Hunter won a fifth.
Romney easily led the overall vote with more than 50 percent. Hunter was second with 21 percent and Fred Thompson, who hadnt won any delegates, was third with 17 percent. Results were expected throughout the day.

2001 about 7% Mormon.
As already said, these are the only three who did any campaigning. Another explanation is that this is kind of a regional vote. Romney because he’s Mormon and Utah-based (despite his time in Mass.), Hunter because he’s a western conservative, and Fred third because he’s a southern conservative.
Which is PRECISELY why Rudy is doing so well there!!!! /s
Stop by and pick me up on your way to Wyoming. I’ve spent some time there. I could handle it. No....they get more snow, I’m sick of snow...lol!
Actually the percentage of the Wyoming population which is LDS is estimated as only between 9 and 10 percent so nobody can legitimately claim it was because of an LDS presence that Romney would win Wyoming.
Do I have that right so far?
Yes - you learned your talking points well.
At some point the Fredheads and Duncan Diehards are going to realize that being a “true conservative” doesn’t count for crap in the real world if your campaign is bungled or non-existent.
Bet they don’t suffer global warming, or other liberal diseases there!
I’m also waiting for the Wyoming citizens are all idiots response from the tin-foil hat crowd.
Romney 7
Hunter 1
“At some point the Fredheads and Duncan Diehards are going to realize that being a true conservative doesnt count for crap in the real world if your campaign is bungled or non-existent.”
I’m for Hunter, but you are in fact correct. I wish Hunter would have caught fire. Didn’t happen. Fred should have caught fire. Hasn’t happened. Probably won’t at this point, but maybe.
My prediction (at the moment anyway) is that McCain gets the nomination. Fred & Mitt both done by Super Tuesday.
Apparently The presidency is gained by being “Mr Money Bags”.
That doesn’t sit well with many in America.
Man-made global warming not helping you out right now?
Go Mitt!
Right. Tell us, how much $$$ did Romney spend in Wyoming? Do you even know? Unless you have the proof that Wyoming was “bought” by Romney stop blowing smoke.
Thats odd! Now it’s:
Romney 6
Hunter 1
Thompson 1
