Duncan Hunter Soldiers On Despite Iowa Results
NPR ^ | 1/5/08 | staff

He is the invisible man of the 2008 presidential campaign. Next to him Rep. Ron Paul looks over covered by the media. Yet California Rep. Duncan Hunter continues to campaign in New Hampshire, despite not even winning a single percentage point in Iowa last night. Although Democratic Senators Joe Biden and Chris Dodd who left the race last night, or Rep. Tom Tancredo who did two weeks ago, Hunter says he plans to continue his quixotic quest for the Republican presidential nomination.

"He is forging ahead using tried-and-true tactics for New Hampshire, albeit on a small scale given his meager campaign finances," Copley News reports. "Although he is essentially skipping today's Iowa caucuses and is overshadowed by just about every other candidate here, Hunter continues to talk of placing third - at least - in this state's first-in-the-nation primary on Tuesday."

"The only thing that stands between us and high numbers in the polls right now are media coverage and money," he said.

Perhaps.

Money would certainly help his quest. Although he has raised around $1.9 million overall, he has about $132,000 on hand, and is unlikely to raise more after his non-finish in Iowa last night. And he's not going to get much media exposure, considering he has been excluded from the two televised debates that will be happening over the next few days in New Hampshire.

"My motto in politics is never complain," Hunter said. "My trademark for 26 years has been, 'Don't whine. Keep working' "

I LOVED THIS STATEMENT: ""My motto in politics is never complain," Hunter said. "My trademark for 26 years has been, 'Don't whine. Keep working' "

H E L L O ....doesn't this sound just like him (what I made up for him to say) ???

...."I still think Hunter should go down the to fence on Sunday and get a photo/video op of him helping to build the fence, and saying "While others are off debating or whining about not being included in a debate, I'm here doing the work other candidates won't do!"

Pissant, according to this article, there were no delegates selected in Iowa. So that would mean that Hunter is EVEN with Thompson going into New Hampshire. Whaddya think? If it’s true, we should ping the list maybe?

First G.O.P. Delegate Goes to Romney (Romney, Hunter Leading in WY)
New York Times ^ | January 5, 2008 | MEAD GRUVER
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/05/us/politics/05cnd-wyoming.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1199563235-58hBRHoYXSVDHcyr25G/Fw&oref=slogin

“Wyoming chose the first 12 delegates of 2008 at 12 separate county conventions. Iowa Republicans, who have 40 delegates, conducted a straw poll but elected no convention delegates Thursday.”

So, that means that Romney has the most delegates, and Fred and Hunter are both tied at 2, going into New Hampshire. I see now that Hunter was wise not to campaign in Iowa, and where he did choose to campaign he drew even with the other conservative in the race. You get more bang for the buck with Hunter.

They are incorrect. I just posted the results from the Wyoming website:

I don't know how to read tat spreadsheet- It seems incomplete, as there are some blank delegates, alts, and some uncommitted.. How does all that work out?

Why I posted the AOL link is for the percentage of votes, something I had not seen elsewhere.

Hopefully, any disparity is worked out pretty quickly.

The percentage is not relevant. This was to win delegates. Hunter and Thompson tired each with one delegate and one alternate.

“We shall see. I do hope he gets on the map.”

Let’s all call a talk show and tell the country that Hunter came in ahead of RudyMcBeePaul in Wyoming.

Political analysts say that MOMENTUM is extremely important for a candidate, and it is.

Kewl. One way or another, he's on the map now, which is a good thing! Pretty hard to say he doesn't count now.

I had a related thought. I wouldn't want Hunter for Veep (nor do I think he would accept it). It would mean he compromised on something.

It's obvious he's running on principle. He won't compromise, and neither will his supporters.

That and $1.25 will only get you a cup of coffee.

I bet someone said something like that to Thomas Jefferson about the Declaration of Independence....

Correction, I had an older file. Deport found a newer one that was posted. Duncan Hunter is in third place. Sorry for any confusion.

Maybe they are wild cards? I’m not even sure what a delegate is and I became one for Hunter today. ::shrugs::

Duncan won’t be considered for vp. He needs to win the nomination. It’s all or nothing.
