This is unofficial, but my understanding is that being penalized by going before Feb. 5 is not assured. It’s an RNC rule that may or may not be imposed at convention time. So the alternates may or may not become delegates at convention time. That’s my free explanation, worth at least the price.

What is unfortunate is that the Huckabee folks are all ready to vote for another big spending “compassionate” GWB conservative. I don’t know about you but I’m sick of the hybrid monstrosities that attempted to graft on conservative ideas onto liberal bureaucracy. All it has accomplished is giving legitimacy to a phony conservatism.

That’s your option of course. My only option at that point is to pull a lever against our troops having a liberal democrat as CIC. I also have the SCOTUS to consider.

I’m a full out Fred supporter but I know for sure that, using the example of the most liberal of our choices, Rudy is one person who hasn’t let a day go by without remembering 911 and it’s aftermath and am sure that he would never put an ACLU SCOTUS nominee up that would decide against our troops or our ability to properly fight the WOT. I don’t think any of them with the exception of Paul would do that.

Every nominee has their baggage on both sides. Regardless of the nominees the question come November will be first and foremost to me, out of the two, who would our troops want as CIC? The second, who will put up the most conservative SCOTUS member?

I have no choice but to vote.

I’ll repeat, I think the only viable choice for me is Fred. But I remember the damage done by those who sat home in 2004 and don’t want to see it repeated.

Yawn. Aristide also had the support of the US government and the OAS at the time...and with OUR help he was actually reinstated.

And that makes it okay to support a Marxist apologist for necklacing? Is that what you are trying to say.

You know, I can;t tell you how much this reminds me of the "Bush is a Nazi" BS....good job, you go dude!

What’s the point? Consider SCOTUS.

If, as you maintain, there’s no difference, what do you see as the chances that Romney will submit a nominee like Ruth Ginsburg?

Zero.

No, I believe Hunter is that guy (with the best chance to not split the vote)... he has more values voter appeal, and more experience... etc..

You obviously are in denial on the "voter appeal" account...

You are arguing with what was the national interest at the time. Stop being a moron.

That is exactly what we are defending. Conservatism. We don’t want a Million dollar liberal in a conservative coat of colors. We don’t want a fiscal liberal who seems to be ready to grow government influence through the roof. It is like the Geico lizard says “If you want loads of friends, giving away money is not a bad idea”.

I appreciate your reasonable answer.

I disagree with the perception of Fred Thompson as being significantly more conservative than Mitt Romney. I still see him as being part of the John McCain/Chuck Hagel/Lindsey Graham group because those were his close associates in the Senate. He's the best of that group, but I still see him as part of that group. I don't believe that he would govern any more conservatively than Mitt Romney would, and I believe that Mitt Romney would be more effective.

The important point is that you and other good Thompson supporters are willing to talk about issues. We may disagree about how conservative each of these candidates would be as president, but honorable people can disagree about these kinds of things. Others seem to have gone to great lengths to make the issue personal, and when they make it personal, they split the support that they need to unify in the general election.

Best of luck in supporting your man.

Bill

Instead, the worst of his supporters are driving me away and likely driving away other voters who would otherwise have been happy to support Mr. Thompson if he had won the nomination.

Bill

You seriously need to stop pretending this is a one way street. Far from it.

Are you saying that Romney’s nominee for Scotus will be comparable at all to Hillary or Obama’s???

I reject that notion completely but you have a right to your opinion.
