NEW YORK - Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich filed a complaint with the FCC on Friday after ABC News excluded him, fellow Democrat Mike Gravel and Republican Duncan Hunter from its prime-time debates on Saturday.
Kucinich argued that ABC is violating equal-time provisions by keeping him out of the debate and noted that ABC's parent Walt Disney Co. had contributed to campaigns involving the four Democrats who were invited.
"ABC should not be the first primary," the Ohio congressman said in papers filed at the Federal Communications Commission.

Fox News Channel is sponsoring a debate in its mobile studio Sunday that excludes Paul and Hunter. Huckabee, Giuliani, Romney, Thompson and McCain have been invited.

I wasn’t providing evidence from the complaint. I did an opensecrets search as requested by a ping.
Kookcinich is right on this one. Hate to say it. He and Paul ought to team up. The MSM should have no role in who appears in the debates. None at all.
Ditto here (and for the rest of us Hunter fans). I’m already furious that the MSM has selected these five for us, and feel that these debates or other discussions are the only way Rep. Hunter can get any visibility.
I’m still with him!
The potential conflict of interest is separate from the complaint itself, which is equal access of ideas to public forums.
Calpernia, thanks for the informative post. EMILY is an acronym for getting money in early and using it shrewdly, as you will know.
Seriously, at least Kucninch, like Duncan, hasn’t changed his positions. Interesting that the two ‘purists’ have been marginalized.
>>>I wonder if the GOP did the same?
That is a fair wonder.
Maybe EMILY is an acronym. But it said, ‘EMILY’s List’. And there is a website: http://www.emilyslist.org that provides political support for pro choice politicians.
IIRC, it stands for Early Money Invested ______ _______ and I believe it is Soros-backed.
The GOP should run our own debates with fair ground rules and ALLOW selected media to cover it. The media makes the debates and the rules. The RNC has been really weak since Mehlman left maybe I am just off the mailing lists as an unenrolled.
Kucinich is also right to point out that Disney has donated to 4 of the candidates (all dems.)
They have a political interest in controlling access.
This should be an ownership issue, but the notion that the airwaves are the “people’s” airwaves throws a bone to Kucinich.
EMILY might stand for Early Money Invested ___ ___. BUT, EMILYS List is http://www.emilyslist.org which is a also a George Soros/MoveOn member organization of the America Votes coalition:

Here. It is an acronym. But it is an organization.
EMILY’s List
EMILYs List, whose name is an acronym (Early Money is Like Yeast), is a national political action committee that works to elect pro-choice female Democrats. The group has turned the bundling of campaign contributions into an art form, enlisting thousands of members nationwide to direct their money to key races. Because much of that money comes in donations below the $200 threshold for reporting, the totals given by EMILYs List members is considerably greater than the official totals reflected in FEC reports. Abortion rights have always been a key issue for the group, though recently, its agenda has also expanded toward economic and social issues, like education funding.

Dennis, you lost to Undecided, nobody who loses to Undecided is a real candidate, fake candidates shouldn’t be in the debate. Call it quits and go home to that wife of yours.
Bracewell & Giuliani are listed as donors to EMILY’s List. Funny how that link, says no republicans have donated.

Those who actually say this lawsuit is right......
Think about this. Keyes was excluded as well, as well as everybody else running for president.
Do you know how many people run for president every four years? HUNDREDS......MAYBE EVEN THOUSANDS.
If you are going to say it is unfair to have a standard to exclude some candidates, the all 1000 candidates need to be included in every single debate until the primaries are over.
And then, every single person running as an independent needs to still be included as well.
The debates would last a week, but who cares.....at least it is fair!!
Come on. Duncan has LESS than a chance. He will NEVER take fire; it is NOT going to happen, period. He has virtually nothing that leads him to be presidential material despite how nice a guy he is.
Fox was being silly to exclude Paul while allowing Giuliani, but at the same time, ABC was EXACTLY correct here to exclude the two biggest losers of the campaign so far. A surprising rise in popularity can only go so far.
Thanks for the ping!
McCain is definitely the funniest one.
That is the way the game is played. Sad but true. Ronnie was a slip up by all indications. But they all came down hard on him in due time.
Kucinich is 100% right here. He, Duncan Hunter, Mike Gravel and Ron Paul are legitimate candidates who appear on ballots in primaries across the country. They have every right to make their positions known.
The media has no right to play kingmaker in an election
