I thought the time was right to start up a live thread for results and comments about tonight, so here we are!
OK. First off let me apologize for the term, it was over the top.
I’m not saying all fundies think like this, but a large chunk - the Huckabee type, are NOT conservatives. They’re religious populists.
If that’s what is dominating the GOP, religious populism that ignores the following tenets of conservatism:
liberty
Consitutionalism
Strong Defense
Low Taxes
Small Government
Then the GOP isn’t my party any more.
Yes, the evangelicals are an important part of the base. But they at least used to pretend to also support conservative policies. Apparently, all that matters is he smile and proclaim he’s a good Christian Man, and he can sit there with an open copy of “The Communist Manifesto” and they’ll still vote for him.
I don’t think so either. Rush didn’t take any kind of hit. I can’t wait to hear him tomorrow.

Thank you for your comments, srmorton. No, you haven’t missed anything with Fox. I literally turn on Fox news early in the morning and it is on all day and most of the evening. So in my arm-chair, quarterback, mode, I would have to say that those who are slamming Fox just don’t want to have their chosen candidate on the carpet, so to speak. I expect Fred Thompson to handle the heat...and those who support him should follow his lead.

The Politico hit piece hurt Fred tonight. It may have cost him a strong third place finish. The real shame is the number of so-called reputable news organizations who have run with the story.

Exactly! Even if you don't like Huckabee, he's infinitely better than Obama, Edwards, or Queen Hillary. I greatly dislike John "Free Speech Equals Corruption" McCain, but I would gladly vote for him against any Democrat. Don't act like a child and decide that it's better the country be ruled by a socialist rather than you voting for a Republican you didn't choose to be its nominee.

Iowa was supposed to go to Edwards, he and Obama had been fighting over it for months. Clinton only recently entered the ring there, and was never expected to win. But yes, Edwards was supposed to win Iowa and Clinton was supposed to win everything else. So indeed, the one victory exceeds expectations. Edwards is now pretty much out of the running. The anti-Hillary vote will go to Obama. Will it be enough? We’ll see. Frankly, Obama makes Hillary look like a Republican so it’s hard to know what to hope for.
