For those who have doubts that Ron Paul would be an acceptable commander in chief, your doubts would have been absolutely confirmed if you listened to him this morning on WHO 1040 talk radio in Des Moines, Iowa.
He came on Jan Mickelson's show at about 8:50am, Pacific Time. I was the second caller.
After complimenting him on his commitment to the Constitution, I asked a question about foreign policy. If any of you can pull the podcast, you can hear the conversation.
The question went something like this: Dr. Paul, if a shipment of nuclear tipped missiles was heading from North Korea to Iran, knowing the position of Ahmadinejad and the mullahs, would you stop that ship or sink it?
His answer was stunning. He very quickly answwered, "No, why would we do that?" After that question back to me, he commented that there was almost zero chance of that happening. He said that if he knew they planned to use them against us, he would take action. But they know they would be obliterated.
I wanted to challenge him further over Iran's stated goal of destroying Israel, but I was apparently cut off by the host and couldn't do it.
There you go, folks. Dr. Paul is an unthinkable commander in chief.
I agree with that, and just said in another post that maybe we should amend the constitution to reflect our new reality — because in some ways Paul’s argument on the constitution seems quite correct, and I justify ignoring it under the sound principle that the constitution is not a death wish.
If he would have allowed the missiles in Cuba, what would he have done to stop a first strike? Based on what he has said, it seems that he would contend that Cuba is sovereign and the Constitution would have not allowed Kennedy to do what he did. If we let Cuba alone (substitute, if we left the Middle East alone) Cuba would have no desire to attack us, so the presence of missile should not be a problem.
The interviewer should then have asked Paul if he would at least approve letters of marque so a wooden square-rigged privateer could stop the North Korean ship.
Imagine if Great Britain had blown up our ships when they delivered the Clinton cargo to North Korea.
Good points. Technology and suicidal maniacs will continue to force change. Responsible people also need to help people understand our constitution applies to US citizens.

No, but I also don’t believe we get to blow up ships and kill people from other nations because they are not our moral equivalent.
Or I should say that I believe it’s a rational argument to have about whether we have the right to blow up ships and kill people from other nations simply because they are not our moral equivalent — since the argument is Ron Paul’s, not mine, and I wouldn’t object to boarding the ship and confiscating the cargo, at least in my 5-second consideration of the issue.

Of course that would never happen, there were no North Korean nuclear components in Syria either, Israel was simply bombing for the fun of it.
OK, I just chose a country for effect, what if Russia or China had blown up our ship to “prevent the nuclear proliferation to a non-signatory”?
I think you understood my point. It’s not so much about moral equivalence as it is when do you draw the line between things you hate but have to permit, and things you get to stop from happening?
Once again, no reply to the actual question/issue at hand. You simply attempt to deflect. Ron Paul's answer shows that he is clearly unqualified.
Will you still be contributing to Ron Paul's campaign after the Iowa results are released? Seeing how he is polling so well and all...

If you support Ron Paul then you know that Ron Paul would never have had troops in Iraq in order to confront the Iranians, yet you criticize Bush for not confronting the Iranians!
