Thompson said in an interview in Iowa that this rumor was made up “out of whole cloth” and is likely being spread by a rival campaign.

Nice try guys, but next time you need to keep your posts farther apart — maybe use a real Freeper who has been around for a while.

don’t know if Fred’s going to tank in Iowa or not, but it seems like he’s got a little momentum at the right time and it’s sure ticking someone off...

That is what I am thinking too....notice this comes out after the stories of Thompson surging.

Not sure which camp...but it is either a Romney or Huckster plant....since they have a lot to lose w Fred surging

It’s all Huckabee’s fault.

He probably causes global warming too :-)

Jesus Christ - On "Identity Politics":
Mark 8
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

He was the only hope for the GOP, the conservative movement, and the country for the next 4 years

If you really believe that, then withhold your negative comments.

That would be basic common sense, would it not?

Is the Jason Boneham that’s spreading this trash rumor the same Jason who was involved with those suspicious Romney-may-have-push-polled-himself calls? The sleaze goes on...

Could be either. It doesn’t cost anything to plant stories at Politico, so even Huckabee could afford it.

Was he in on that too? I remember him causing trouble here a while back and getting banned.

Actually that is one of the very things in play right now. Mitt is proving to be very high Maintenance for the GOP. Cost per vote is through the roof, not something to take into the general no matter how pretty he is. -

Fred says it’s BS.
Mary Matlin from his campaign said earlier today it was BS.

I had been expecting that another serious try at keeping votes from Fred would happen just before the caucus and here it is.

The hope is that those going to caucus will feel their vote will be wasted on Fred if he’s dropping out Friday and they will go with someone else.

Don’t buy it. Stand up for Fred.

He won’t tank at all, but even if he did it is irrelevant. There is more at work here than just these primaries...

If he endorses McCain, there will be much gnashing of teeth among the Fredheads.

Actually, it appears there are two sources for this story.

It is obvious that Fred doesn’t really want to be in this thing. One lady on Fox a little while ago said point blank that she had been for Thompson until she met him. She said he looked tired and like he didn’t want to be there and wasn’t interested in her vote.

There are reasons you go from 50% to 12%.

And yes, McCain has easily the most liberal record of anyone running, and yes, Thompson will probably endorse him before NH, because then his buddy McCain will be able to beat Romney in NH.

You heard it here first.

Oh yeah, Romney by 5 points in Iowa!

Some of the many red flags that this is probably crap:

combined with a fundraising drought

You mean like the quarter million in two days on no prior notice last week? Or the week before that, the $100,000 in ten hours or so with no prior notice?

“Without a solid third-place finish, there’s no point in going on,” a Thompson adviser said Wednesday. “It was an honorable race, and he turned out to be a good candidate. The moment had just passed.”

Would a real adviser really be dumb enough to say that? Assist himself in losing his own gig by destroying expectations and running voters off?

He did something similar on Sunday, when Thompson—apparently in a semi-jocular mood—dismayed his staff by telling reporters that he needed to finish second in the caucuses, a bar that nobody here expects him to cross.

This is proof that they'll uncritically accept the word of any naysayer. Fred explained this situation this morning in an interview with (the hot) Jane Skinner.

Last spring, Rats were alarmed that Fred was peeling off Reagan Democrats in their internal polling.

That's why Fred has laid low, because the MSM is salivating to draw his blood.

I have two diehard democrats in my family who are leaning Fred.
