Fox News at 3:00 PM, now dissing the Iowa Caucus(inoculating against a Huckabee and Obama win?)
Fox News(Sheperd Smith and Carl Cameron) | January 2, 2008

Posted on 01/02/2008 12:08:43 PM PST by Dane

Watching Fox news and the lead at 3:00 PM EST, was a rant by Shepherd and Carl, saying how Iowa doesn't matter, as Roger Ailes and Fox News spent millions covering it.

I guess Roger & Co, at Fox will not like the results(Huckabee and Obama winning and getting momentum).

Roger Ailes and his friend Rush Limbaugh, are not amused, thus this little hissy fit.

I haven't been listening to Rush, but reading FR...I don't remember him feuding with a candidate the way he is with Huck, and was under the impression from posters here that he was leaning Romney.

BTW, I am a supporter of Fred from the beginning. That's why it was so puzzling to me.

Huck is feuding with Rush and Rush is trying not to hammer the guy like he could. Rush is way above this but he has been gone for a week while Huck has been feuding with him. Rush has been with his family in Missouri.

Check out some statements Huck supporters have been making about Rush. Its the same stuff the open border guys were saying about him and the kinda things liberals say.

Hucks actions on the "I'm not gonna air this negative ad but just show it to the media so I can be above the fray" made me want to puke. What a coward. If you want to run it, run it. He oozes Clinton with garbage like that.

Not only did he suishly and meekly say he didn't want to air the ad that cost him 30 grand to produce. He called press conference to play it for the media who laughed at his audacity and then the guy said "What profit is there for me if I gain the whole world but lose my soul, so I can't air this."

McCain winning would help Thompson IMO. I don’t see Romney/Huckabee voters going to McCain. I don’t see McCain doing so well in the south either. I would love it if he won NH/MI.
I agree completely. Plus a McCain win really diffuses Giuliani's support, since it is mostly based on electability, name recognition, hero status, and national security. McCain easily rivals or bests Giuliani on all of these counts, and he even looks quite conservative by comparison.

This could result in a McCain-Thompson race, if Huckabee fizzles out before the race reaches the south. Otherwise it might be a McCain-Huckabee race, and that means we all have a moral obligation to vote McCain.

I’ve been dissing the process all along. First of all it is much too early. Campaigning should start after Labor Day and state Primaries in March/April.

There is a case to be made that the media has influenced the politicians to move everything forward so as to make bigger bucks - which thay are doing.

I have primary fatique and seldom listen to the candidates anymore. What more is there to learn. We know who the most conservative ones are already!.

I don't know if Huckabee lies or not. Have never bothered to look into him because I don't like him because on most things, he is too far left to get my vote. Most all of them fall into that category as far as I'm concerned.

If I were Huckabee, I'd e-mail him an apology as well as grovel and beg his forgiveness while explaining I had nothing to do with whatever was said. Why would Huckabee or any Republican want to pick a fight with Rush? It's suicide.

Thanks for the link. I will check Rush's site later because I did miss what was said today.

"That is tinfoil thinking to the max."

You won't get any argument from me - I may be a tinfoiler.

"I don’t know why the poster wrote Roger Ailes and his friend Rush..."

I believe Roger Ailes produced Rush's TV show and I've heard Rush say they are good friends. I think Ailes was responsible for originally syndicating Rush's radio show, but I'm not positive.

Good to see that your back-up if Huckabee doesn’t get the nod is Obama. Pretty much underlines Huckabee. He talks about hope and Christian principles, but isn’t conservative.

And I forgot the final line. Which makes him sound like a “Republican” Obama. A naive and perhaps well-meaning person who has no business serving as President of the United States.

He's a conman.

Only 2 people have won in Iowa and gone on to the Presidency.

Right. Repubs that win in Iowa, then win the primary usually lose the Presidency.

Rush says that he is a Conservative before he is a Republican... and that Thompson is the only Conservative in the top tier. It just isn’t that hard to understand... he said today that he would not endorse a primary candidate... “at least not outright”. Now like I said... it is easy to understand who he prefers.

It is really good to converse with another Conservative who knows what Conservatism really is... and I mean that!

McCain and Huck are working together IMO.

"He's a conman."

You won't get any argument from me on that. The only trouble is MOST politicians are, so that doesn't exactly put Huckabee in a category by himself.

Its the old "wanna be liked by the liberal media and invited to the cocktail parties" mentality.

They see it as an oppotunity to get in good with the media and hopefully grow their current relationship, riding it to positive press to carry them to victory in Nov.

Of course, the positive press will only last until after the convention, then they will destroy him to make smooth sailing for the democrat.

Thank you, and likewise.

I've read the transcript from Rush's site, some of which I heard, but since I came in in the middle of it, I wasn't sure what Rush was talking about since he was playing clips from different programs. Also, I didn't realize that when Huckabee did e-mail Rush, Rush characterized it as "not an apology." Hmmmmm.... Like I said, I assumed that anyone who wasn't crazy or an an obvious fool would be groveling and tap dancing as fast as they could in between sucking up to Rush.

I think I was way off in thinking that maybe the anonymous Huckabee supporter's remarks about Rush might have come from somewhere else to allow Rush to open up on Huckabee, but darned if I can think of any reason why Huckabee would want to pick a fight with him and not even suitably apologize whether he had anything to do with it or not.

My opinion is that he is not up to the job... that he does not have what it takes and is making mistakes that a man running for President cannot afford to make. This is just one of many mistakes. He cannot hide his true inner liberal. IMHO.

I could buy that if he were already the nominee, but on the eve of the Republican primary when you've just taken the lead in Iowa is not exactly the time to rattle Rush's cage and get his negative attention. There is only a downside at this time IMO.

I can’t think of anything else except a colossal faux pas. If he was trying to suck up to the liberal press as another poster suggested, he made his move prematurely.

It was the end of the hour; he didn’t cut him off; he went back to the question after the news, and answered the guy.

The guy didn’t care if most of Huckabee’s positions were NOT consevative as long as he is anti-abortion.

Rush maintained that conservatism embodies a panoply of issues, and Huckabee does NOT embrace conservatism.
