Normally, lack of money is a problem but in the Iowa caucus, lack of money has forced Thompson to do retail politics, which is what hes best at. Hes getting a surge from it. In this case, lack of money may make the difference. -- Steve Gill, author of The Fred Factor
I know what you are thinking. That gal is in the bag for Thompson and shes scratching for anything she can find. Not so, I am a typical conservative, I dont know who I am voting for in the primary. I know who I am not voting for, but Ill keep that to myself -- for now.
Fred Thompson is traipsing around Iowa, literally. Hes basically out of money and hes going town to town, house to house, diner to diner meeting the folks. Unlike, Hillary Clinton, the more you see and talk to Fred Thompson, the more you like him.
He walked into the room at the Des Moines Marriot where FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform) was hosting their Congressional Task Force Radio Row. He met and talked with anyone in the room until he sat down for an extended interview with Jan Michelson of WHO-AM of Des Moines. He couldnt spend time with radio shows from Georgia or Kansas because if he doesnt make it out of Iowa and New Hampshire, he wont make it to these other states where his has a good chance of winning more than a few of them. He wowed the room and then headed out to the next stop.
During the course of the day, I saw him all over Iowa in the same boots and leather jacket that he was wearing at the radio row. This was Fred Thompsons day. (snip)

Go Fred!
Third...thanks. I really like Thompson and really feel like he’s the man. Also, I’m a Christian and I appreciate the fact the Huckabee is too, but I keep thinking..Jimmy Carter, Jimmy Carter, Jimmy Carter.
Be sure to read the comments at the article link. All are positive for Fred and/or Fred/Hunter.
He has support to sustain for some time from several quarters and he is in for the southern states and just got his paper work in for Texas, not a sign of a man leaving the field.
There are several forces at work here and Fred is being put in a place to capitalize on the outcome. This may well come down to the Convention.
BTW on backing McCain, not going to happen because McCain is not going to happen no matter his results. The GOP will see to it, they will not take the risk in the general that he will lose it, and also not take the responsibility of his presence in the White House.
I am confident Thompson is a Christian.
A lot of people are very uncomfortable sharing their faith or being expressive about their faith.
Indeed, the sincerity and depth of faith of the quiet Christian often outstrips the guy who is the first one at the alter call.
Do you support McCain? I know Fred and John are good friends, but I don’t think Fred will drop out Friday and endorse John. Remember that Iowa is not the only state, and although a good showing in this caucus gives candidates a boost, it is no where near over in Iowa! Fred is the real conservative in the top four, and I believe he will win the nomination in the end! GO FRED!
Yes, I read them. Very positive, from all over the country.
Didn’t see any from Iowa. What are these people doing up there? Huckabee? Romney? We have such an obvious choice, with respects to Duncan Hunter...Fred Thompson is a mainstream conservative Republican with smarts, experience and a nice looking wife.
I figure if he even gets fourth in IA, he could spend the next week and a half focusing on SC and win that. Huckabee will implode by then and Romney's dog won't hunt down there, no matter what size check he writes.
“Ergo, Thompson is the man.”
Bears repeating. That is how I see it as well.
This is all about time and position, and somethings that I have heard and seen are making more sense, indeed have changed my thoughts on the initial strategy, or should I say the events have changed the strategy and I am learning anew...
No, most of us think Fred needs a strong third place showing behind the Huckster and Mitt.”
And I think that there is a good chance that McCain may take 3rd. There has been a recent surge, but it wasn’t Fred. It is McCain.
But...we shall see.
And then I shall much enjoy pinging a few dozen FReeper armchair political strategists to their wildly inaccurate predictions.
Hope he takes it seriously and doesn't endorse Edwards.
heh heh...
That is the most inexplicable thing I've ever seen. How many times does McCain have to trash his base for people to take notice.
Any others care to match to spite this anti-Fred troll?
Hilarious!
McCain will bust just like the Huck.
McCain will drop out, right after South Carolina or Florida.
He’ll be gone by Super Tuesday, one of two gone by then. Neither of the two will be Thompson.
