Normally, lack of money is a problem but in the Iowa caucus, lack of money has forced Thompson to do retail politics, which is what hes best at. Hes getting a surge from it. In this case, lack of money may make the difference. -- Steve Gill, author of The Fred Factor
I know what you are thinking. That gal is in the bag for Thompson and shes scratching for anything she can find. Not so, I am a typical conservative, I dont know who I am voting for in the primary. I know who I am not voting for, but Ill keep that to myself -- for now.
Fred Thompson is traipsing around Iowa, literally. Hes basically out of money and hes going town to town, house to house, diner to diner meeting the folks. Unlike, Hillary Clinton, the more you see and talk to Fred Thompson, the more you like him.
He walked into the room at the Des Moines Marriot where FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform) was hosting their Congressional Task Force Radio Row. He met and talked with anyone in the room until he sat down for an extended interview with Jan Michelson of WHO-AM of Des Moines. He couldnt spend time with radio shows from Georgia or Kansas because if he doesnt make it out of Iowa and New Hampshire, he wont make it to these other states where his has a good chance of winning more than a few of them. He wowed the room and then headed out to the next stop.
During the course of the day, I saw him all over Iowa in the same boots and leather jacket that he was wearing at the radio row. This was Fred Thompsons day. (snip)

Like I said a few weeks ago....when the dust settles Fred wins the nomination.
Everyone else is killing each other...while Fred seems more on selling himself. Good move
Fred will surprise in Iowa. I will not predict a win, but, a result that will turn his campaign around.
For the nation, I pray you are correct.
Fred is a fiscal conservative and he shows his leadership ability by working within the funds he has available.
All the other candidates are spending millions of dollars trying to convince people how badly they want the job, before they even get their first paycheck.
That demonstration of fiscal irresponsibility proves the other candidates will have little effect on the runaway spending and record deficits in Washington.
Iowans need to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel rather than be blinded by the glitter of big spending deceptions.
Go Fred!!
What place would that be, or what percentage?
Indeed. Fred is giving voters what they say they want: Strong stances, clear policy statements, no pandering...what’s not to like?
The MSM/Democrats do NOT want a Thompson nomination. They can dig up dirt on Rudy, make fun of Huckabee and quietly mention “Mormonism” every day of the election cycle. Fred will be tough for them to face. They know it.

WARNING: If you wish to join, be aware that this ping list is EXTREMELY active.
From the article:
“With all the talk about the Huckaboom, maybe its going to come down to something a little more simple, you go to every place there is a group of people or every place there might be a camera and you say, Hi, my name is Fred Thompson, and Im running for President. You kiss the babies, pose for pictures, sign autographs, smile and talk to the folks and you can win Iowa — maybe.”
The MSM is shutting out Fred because he is not spending BIG MONEY with ads and pads for their pockets.
The MSM supports whoever lines their pockets. Just watch who’s faces show up most frequently in the news broadcast and papers. It’s the spenders.
Fred is not all about big money. People are blinded by the glitter of the rock show pyrotechnics and smoke and mirrors.
He will drop out and endorse McCain within 48 hours.
It is very true:
1. Rudy has family baggage (as in — his current wife was his mistress while married to his second wife) and is a liberal. His claim to fame is 9/11 -— and he will be swiftboated by police and fire unions that will say he is unprepared.
2. Huckabee is a pro-life liberal with zero national experience and bad international instincts -— basically a pro-life Jimmy Carter.
3. McCain has long-time ethics problems (member of Keating 5), is weak on immigration and other issues, and the base hates him because, while not as liberal as Rudy, awful close. His temper tantrums are notorious.
4. Romney is, well, a liar who converted to conservatism right before the election to get elected. He’s still umabashedly anti-2nd amendment and his RomneyCare socilized medicine is a fiscal disaster. The fact that he is a mormon will cause a large portion of the base (the Huckabee base) to stay home, like it or not.
5. Hunter is a nice conservative, but nobody beside about 10 people on FreeRepublic know who he is.
6. Thompson is a pro-life conservative, has amazing charisma and “gravitas” compared to all the other candidates. He’s a consistent conservative, a serious guy, and would mop the floor with the lightweights the Democrats would put up.
Ergo, Thompson is the man.
Bingo, we have a winner!
If need be, I will write Fred’s name in. I’m done with voting for the lesser of two evils.
Robbin
This is a bit more of a realistic scenario than the fantasy of some freepers who actually think Fred is going to not only rock and roll in Iowa (where he is polling fourth), NH (where he is not breaking 3%, nor is he beating Ron Paul), and SC (again, polling 4th - but at least ahead of Ron) but to actually cruise to the nomination.....
Ah, another post against Fred Thompson. He certainly occupies enough of your time on FR.
No, most of us think Fred needs a strong third place showing behind the Huckster and Mitt.
Making a note to ping you in 48 hours regarding your wildly inaccurate prognostication.
I believe you are living in a dream world.
Fred needs to end every speech and appearance from now until the end of the caucus on Thursday with “I am asking for your vote.”
George Bush did that at the end of the third debate in 2000 and I think it may have tipped the scales.
As weird as it seems to political folk, asking for thier vote resonates with many casual voters.
