Let's hope the Iowa Republicans do a good job in their caucuses discussing the candidates. Fred needs a strong third place showing, perhaps the high teens, and he'll get more attention and respect from the pundits.

Fred is a fiscal conservative and he shows his leadership ability by working within the funds he has available.

All the other candidates are spending millions of dollars trying to convince people how badly they want the job, before they even get their first paycheck.
That demonstration of fiscal irresponsibility proves the other candidates will have little effect on the runaway spending and record deficits in Washington.

Iowans need to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel rather than be blinded by the glitter of big spending deceptions.

Go Fred!!

From the article:

“With all the talk about the “Huckaboom,” maybe it’s going to come down to something a little more simple, you go to every place there is a group of people or every place there might be a camera and you say, “Hi, my name is Fred Thompson, and I’m running for President.” You kiss the babies, pose for pictures, sign autographs, smile and talk to the folks and you can win Iowa — maybe.”

What ever happens in Iowa will make no difference in my support of Fred Thompson, head and shoulders above all the other candidates.

Fred needs to end every speech and appearance from now until the end of the caucus on Thursday with “I am asking for your vote.”

George Bush did that at the end of the third debate in 2000 and I think it may have tipped the scales.

As weird as it seems to political folk, asking for thier vote resonates with many casual voters.

Actually while I am very hopeful and feel good about his chance, the more I see and hear out there the more I realize that Iowa and the other early sates may not matter in the long run for FDT.

He has support to sustain for some time from several quarters and he is in for the southern states and just got his paper work in for Texas, not a sign of a man leaving the field.

There are several forces at work here and Fred is being put in a place to capitalize on the outcome. This may well come down to the Convention.

BTW on backing McCain, not going to happen because McCain is not going to happen no matter his results. The GOP will see to it, they will not take the risk in the general that he will lose it, and also not take the responsibility of his presence in the White House.

Iowa boy here chimin’ in.
Fred is turning out to be more of a statesman than a politician. I once heard the great philosopher Friedman(yes, Kinky) say “A politician is concerned with the next election and a stamtesman in concerned about the next generation”.
Fred is spot on with every issue that typically defines conservatism. He is getting my nod tomorrow evening at the schoolhouse caucus get together.

The absolute, hilarious thing about all this is that from what I can glean, Fred is far from out of money.
