Police are searching for a 50-year-old Lewisville father whose 17- and 18-year-old daughters were found shot to death in an abandoned car Tuesday evening in Irving, police said.

Police suspect Yaser Abdel Said Saidyaser may have shot Sarah Yaser Said, 17 and Amina Yaser Said, 18 and let them for dead inside a car.

A 911 cell phone call, believed to have been made by one of the teens at about 7:30 p.m., alerted police to the shooting, but the caller was unable to tell police where she was and officers were dispatched to the area of O'Connor Road and Riverside Drive, officials said. Officers were unable to locate anyone.

About an hour later, police responded to a call reporting a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in the 200 block of Las Colinas Boulevard -- about five minutes away from the first location -- where officer found the sisters, officials said.

Yaser Abdel Said was last seen wearing a black turtleneck shirt/sweater, a brown coat and tan pants. Police believe he is armed with a handgun and anyone with information should call 972-721-2518.

It will be most interesting to see what the motive was here.

Probably an honor killing: so sorry, I can’t afford to care for you so you might dishonor family if left to your own devices. To prevent dishonor it is better you die.

They probably dishonored him in some. Just a cultural thing. Isn't multiculturalism great?

Well, at least the family's "honor" is now intact.

Somebody has some 'splain'n to do. Cell phones have GPS, which 911 can access to determine a caller's location. It can be turned off, but even if it is, the cell system itself can figure out a location closer than 5 minutes by car. But even if there was a technical reason why the location couldn't be determined any closer than that, why would they give up looking for a shooting victim?

I swear to God, when I read the headline, I thought, “it’s gotta be a Muslim”. Only a Muslim can be so psychotic that his brainwashing is stronger than the millions of years of instinct to protect his own children.

Or, this being Texas, shoot, shovel and shut up. Your choice.

Most phones that people have do not yet have built-in GPS. Some new ones do, but not so many that it can be assumed.

Cell phone radio signals can be triangulated, however. Perhaps this is what you’re thinking of. It does work, but it is wildly inaccurate sometimes, and imprecise all the time. It can usually locate a square mile or so for a probable location, but this too can be wildly wrong.

I’ve done this for my phone many times. Sometimes it is reasonably close and sometimes it is several miles off. Generally the more rural an area, the greater the error. Lots of towers in an area gives more data points. Few towers gives few data points.
