Would-be Ford assassin freed from prison on parole

One of the women who unsuccessfully tried to assassinate President Ford 32 years ago was released on parole Monday from a federal prison in California, according to a Bureau of Prisons spokesman.

Sara Jane Moore was released in the morning from the federal women's prison in Dublin, outside San Francisco, according to Mike Truman of the Bureau of Prisons.

There was no immediate comment from the prison facility itself, where Moore had been Inmate No. 04851180. Officials said she had a recent parole hearing, but did not know what prompted her release at this time.

Nor was it clear what her plans are, or where she is headed.

The former nurse and mother of five had been trying for 20 years to gain her freedom.

Moore was arrested in September 22, 1975, outside the St. Francis Hotel after firing a single shot at Ford. A bystander had grabbed Moore's arms just before she fired a .38 caliber revolver, and that was credited with possibly saving the president's life. The bullet missed Ford's head by inches.

...

In recent interviews, Moore said she regretted her actions, which she said were motivated by radical revolutionary politics.

So, what does she think about her revolutionary politics. Does she still think killing the President is a good idea?

I’m sure she regrets being arrested and imprisoned.

Sure glad they gave her life imprisonment!

Well, what about Squeaky? Why isn’t she released?

After all, they were only a couple of moonbats trying to kill the Republican President.

Wasn’t Squeaky one of those Manson girls? One of them was from here in NH but I’ve forgotten her name.

Linda Kasabian was well-known here in southern NH. She was a waitress at the now defunct White Horse Tavern in Milford, NH.

She and her pals would be arrested from time to time for setting fires in the Litchfield woods or for drugs.

She eventually moved out of NH.

At temped Murder. Why give someone a lesser sentence just because they fail at their chosen task. If the intent was to Murder the punishment shold be the same as murder.
