Mayor Bloomberg will join a group of fed-up bipartisan bigwigs in Oklahoma next week to urge that our next President rise above partisan gridlock - giving Bloomberg a potential launching pad for a presidential bid.
The two former senators who started the group told the Daily News that America needs a President to bring the country together - and if the Republicans or Democrats can't do it, they're prepared to back Bloomberg.
"He's shown the ability to bring people together," said one of the hosts, former Sen. David Boren (D-Okla.), now president of the University of Oklahoma. "He brings to the table a tremendous wealth of personal experience, and his commitment to bipartisanship is very strong."
Boren and former Sen. Sam Nunn (D-Ga.) told The News that the meeting is a serious gathering of moderates, not a Bloomberg-for-President meeting in disguise - but he wouldn't rule out backing Bloomberg if he runs.

Interesting flashback. Strange things happen in a 3-way race. I hadn’t realized that Clinton came within a couple hundred thousand votes of winning TEXAS in 1992.
Thomas Paine
Run, Bloomie, run!
Bwah hah hah hah hah...
Excellent quote. Thanks.
Meanwhile, on a sorta Bloombug-related note...
Bloomberg’s run is all about one state and ensuring the democrats win it: Florida.
A visible interposition of God!
Bloomie would draw off the votes of those NE kooks who call themselves the GOP members, but are no farther right than Mao.
He would draw all of those so called NE “moderates” who are just to the left of Mao.
That what he won with in NYC and that type of bleeding will cost the clintion millions upon million to fight for the formerly secure and cobalt blue NE states.
Bloomie couldn’t get the votes of two dogs and a pig in the Red states, and that combination may well sink the dems in 08.
Maybe the polls are an accurate picture of the way folks think now, but when push comes to shove, and the Sulfur Breather is actually nigh to the White House, I think you’ll see a closing of Republican ranks and a jitter and quacking in the ranks of the Faithful.
A Bloomberg/Nunn ticket will hand Florida to the democrats.
Bloomberg has already had private meetings with Hillary and Obama on his strategy.
Bloomberg will not campaign against democrats, just like Perot didn’t campaign against Clinton.
You should you probably re-think your jubilation over his run.
Bloomie couldnt get the votes of two dogs and a pig in the Red states, and that combination may well sink the dems in 08.I think that's pretty self-evident. People who think otherwise aren't thinking this through.
Name a red state you see Bloomie getting a lot of Republican votes in.
Bloomberg for President?...what a croak!
This guy is on ego trip, period!
Who wins Florida in a 3 way race?
1992
Clinton 39.0%
Bush 40.9%
Perot 19.8%
1996
Clinton 48.0%
Dole 42.3%
Perot 9.1%
2000
Bush 48.85%
Gore 48.84%
Nader 1.64%
2004
Bush 52.02%
Kerry 48.05%
Nader 0.35%
Boomberg isn’t even a RINO. A RINO virus infection would move him to the right. And so, what does that make moderates who line up behind him? ...What is a “serious” moderate, and what on earth do they bring to the table that the left doesn’t already pretend to offer? With Boomberg leaving the pile, we can expect a moderately progressive agenda to promote liberal extremism incrementally, so as to deceive dimwits.
LOL! - I think that you had best rethink your think!
I’ve lived in Florida since 81, and I will bet large, folding sums of money that Bloomie could not get over single digits here.
In addition, I would bet - see me if he decides to run - smaller amounts that he won’t get more than 1%. (in Florida)
I don’t know where you are from, but you seem to have an MSM view of Florida and it’s voters.
Who wins Florida in a 3 way race?
Do you not even read your own post??
look at the trend in Florida. It isn’t even a swing state anymore.
Bloomberg is out to get someone.....Hillary or Rudy?
He will enter if:
Hillary is nominated?
Rudy is nominated?
As a Florida voter that says it’s no longer a swing state, are you saying that ANY of the current GOP candidates will carry the state in a 3-way race?
Bingo.
"They" know exactly what they are doing, and exactly what the figures are.
Bloomberg IS a mole.
And the "they" extends far far beyond the Clintons.
