Police say the family appears to be non-traditional.
I dont get that either.
There were two adults, a male and female, presumably the mother and father, two 10-year-old girls, two 8-year-olds, a boy and girl, a 7-year-old girl and a 6- month-old girl.
So what makes that non-traditional?
Where the kids all different races, foster kids or adopted, handicapped, two pairs of twins, did the family dress in non-traditional clothing? Illegals? Mormons?
That is really bad writing as it really has no bearing on this very tragic story.
The real story is that 5 people are dead and one is in serious condition because of a drunk driver. Im more interested in knowing more about the drunk driver, does he have priors, did he have a license, is he an illegal?
Since the family is from Baltimore its been all over the local TV news here, if I learn more, Ill post back with an update.

Judging by the names and ages, best guess is a simple “yours, mine and ours” situation. The Burkman children would be Bethany’s from an earlier marriage, the two older Griffin children would be the same for the father, Danny, and the baby was theirs together.

I suspect one of the following:
1. They're illegal aliens.
2. There is some kind of polygamy involved.
I never would have though of #2 until a few months ago when about a dozen people died in a house fire in New York City. The victims included several adult women and a bunch of kids, and it turns out they were the wives and kids of one guy (a recent immigrant from Africa).
That's my guess.

Suspect it means the parents aren’t married.
(But apparently the coursework in journalism school consists of nothing these days.)

Bethany and Dan had families from previous marriages before they married each other.
They had just had their first child together.
They were brave, intelligent, hard working people who loved their children very, very much.
Everyone who knew them will miss them terribly.

Agreed - and a sign that the liberal mindset permeates everything - even stories that should be factual even when quite grim.
A number of lives have been lost in a tragedy and all the writer can think about is whether the parents were married or not (or gay, or trannies, etc.)
To: Glenn
My question as well. Never miss a chance to advance a social agenda.
