British people are now convinced about the dangers of global warming but are either baffled about how to stop it or are ignoring the issue.
Analysts say few people are taking action to deal with the threat of climate change, although over the past 12 months the vast majority have come to accept that it poses a real threat to the world. Opinion polls reveal much confusion among the public about what Britain should do to combat the problem.
A backlash is now a real threat, said Phil Downing, head of environmental research for Ipsos Mori. 'There's cynicism because on the one hand we're being told [the problem] is very serious and on the other hand we're building runways, mining Alaskan oil; there's a lot going on that appears to be heading in the opposite direction.'
This is particularly evident in the huge public resistance to green taxes. 'There's a cynicism the government is using the green agenda as an excuse for hitting motorists and people who want to fly,' added Downing.

A key factor will be the weather, said West. 'If we have a nice average year, whatever that means, people will say: "Climate change: what of it?" But if we have either an extreme heatwave or more flooding, I think there's going to be a cumulative effect. The next time we have a national-scale weather-related emergency, people will say: "Enough ... we can't allow this to be normal". In a way, if that happens, it makes our job easier, but clearly I don't want to wish a disaster on anyone.'

I do use them and love them! And that is exactly the way it should be. And it should stay that way. You use what you want, and I use what I want.
It's a good system. Why do they have to go and muck with it?
For centuries man has read by firelight, by candle light, by torch light, by oil lamp, by kerosene lantern. The incandescent bulb comes closest to duplicating that yellowish light. I kept full spectrum 40" fluorescents in the kitchen because I like the retro combination of Formica countertops and fluorescents. I'm not impressed by granite countertops and fancy kitchen lighting because I know that nine times out ten not too much cooking is going on in that $20,000 remodel kitchen and when there is, it is semi ridiculous food
Definitely to each his own. There should always be a choice between incandescents and compact fluorescents and whatever else. It’s a really dumb feel good move to ban the incandescent bulb. Blame the hacks
Americans will grow to love global warming same as they grew to love nuclear weapons, duck and cover drills and fallout shelters

People aren't stupid. It doesn't take them long to figure out that "climate change" is really all about raising taxes. Spendthrift politicians see carbon taxes, et al. as new sources of revenue to spend on their next pet project.
They seem to taste better without a stamp. It's like blowing smoke rings up the rear ends of State politicians.
I bought a litro of Spanish Anis liquor that way also. Use a dash of that instead of sugar in a cup of hot steamed Brazilian coffee. You get very strong coffee with a strong licorice flavor that can't be beat.
LOL! I can show those sweethearts on the Food Channel how to make it. Those guys that run the equipment there don't need to bring food to work.
Proof again that lieberals need controversy to gain attention and power, even if it is made up controversies. Common sense and steady hands still rule, barely.
Actually, I use them in several lamps. They're fine with the right lampshade. But I also have a dozen lights or so with dimmers and I'll be damned if I'll give them up.
As the date draws nearer, I'll begin to stock up on incandescents and eventually will have more of them in the pantry than Elaine had sponges.
When the Gorebots tell you that unless we cut world wide CO2 emissions 80% by 2050 that the planet will burn up and are then told that China and the developing world will continue to emit ever increasing amounts that will replace what we save. You realize that you have been either presented an insoluble problem or are being lied to.
Since the bears are so stressed I'm sure the Inuit are more than willing to cease hunting polar bears and the seals the bears depend on for food. Maybe the Inuit could cut down on the snowmobiles and gasoline boat motors, for the planet don't you know.
“Im waiting for the drumbeat to start about H2O being a pollutant.”
If C02 is considered a ‘pollutant’ due to it’s effect on our weather, then H20 is a MAJOR pollutant.
Water Vapor is THE primary factor in our weather.
If we can control the Water Vapor, then we can ‘change’ the weather. Of course, it is very likely that the ‘change’ would eventually cause worldwide catastrophe since Mother Nature has a way of ‘reacting’ to changes herself.
(I know, I am preaching to the choir)
” I always REQUEST plastic bags at the grocery stores, especially the ones that want you to use paper or cloth. It gives me great satisfaction, my very own molon labe moment, almost every day. hahah.”
It might interest you to know that everything you were taught is WRONG.
Plastic bags are less harmful to the environment than paper.
Paper bags require the cutting down of trees (which absorb C02) and the use of many nasty chemicals to turn them into bags. Then there is the transportation of them. Paper bags take much more room than plastic bags, to transport, and store.
You are mistaken, however, because FIRST I was taught that paper bags were wrong, they destroyed trees, and to use plastic. But then I was taught that plastic bags were wrong, and to use paper. That’s about when I figured EVERYTHING ‘they’ were saying was hooey, became a Republican, started eating meat again, homeschooled my kid, tossed the recycle bin, etc.
Me, mistaken?
How could that be?
I’ve never been wrong befo..
OOPS. Never mind.
hahah, and Happy New Year to you. Funny, I’ve never been wrong before, either.

I suspect the greenie organizations have already worked out a scheme to profit handsomely from "envirowacko-approved" Gaia-friendly incandescent bulbs - sold for several times the pre-ban price of course.
Well, you are of course right. They hate capitalism but they DO intend to profit handsomely.
Haven't you heard? Dryers don't eat socks.
Socks mate in the washer and give birth in the dryer. You're not missing socks; you're getting an extra one which just makes you think that you've lost one.
This is what they evidently teach budding writers in class today......namely, Journalism 101-1984.
