I had a feeling the Huckaboom would go Huckabust with all the negative press about him and his obvious inexperience in foreign affairs and national defense. Fred seems to be moving up in the polls, on the other hand.

At the same time, Mitt Romney has regained the lead among Iowa Republicans...

WOO! HOO! And if Mitt wins NH, then he pretty much has the nomination locked up.

Damn, between Fred reclaiming some of the dropoff from the Huckster’s numbers and the undecideds, he could make a strong showing—possibly second (or dare I dream?) and a close one at that.

Upon assumptions like this huge disappointments are often hung.

Don't hold your breath. His numbers here have been dropping like a rock.

Events in Pakistan have been cruel to Huckabee. Some Republicans are willing to forgive him his socialism. Not so many are willing to think of him as being in the driver’s seat in foreign policy.

As a Romney supporter, I’m happy with the re-think among Iowa Evangelicals after Huckabee’s records were exposed, but I wonder why Duncan Hunter’s numbers are always so low. He seems the ideal right-wing candidate to many conservatives.

Still, I’m glad to see Fred’s numbers coming back up - he’s always been my second choice. I do wonder at his motivation though - he seems to be in it only to keep his wife happy.

"..if Mitt wins NH, then he pretty much has the nomination locked up."

How so? Fred Thompson is a Southerner, and the next primary is South Carolina, then more Southern states.

It seems that “cooler heads will prevail” on Jan. 3rd in Iowa. Fred’s stance has been: you want to vote for those idiots?, go right ahead. But at the end of the day the base will come home. looks promising! Must have been the 50 bucks I gave this week so they can run the ad. :)

I also think the McCain mini-bubble will burst soon. I will be surprised if McCain’s actual Iowa caucus vote exceeds 10%.

Every dollar helps FRed get his message of consistent conservatism out to the folks! Thanks for helping!

I’m betting McCain’s numbers are mostly based on name recognition. True caucus-goers (i.e., “the base”) know what Juan McCain tried to pull off this last year. Elephants never forget.

1% isn't so many, if you ask me.

Huckabees bubble bursts

Gramatically, assuming the plural, that should probably be "Huckabees' bubbles burst"?

Or simply "Huckabee go bust"?

I agree. How can McCain possibly go anywhere in this party? The only reason Huckabee was able to was that he was relatively new and the wishful thinkers among us were able, for awhile, to pretend Huckabee is something he’s not.

No one’s pretending about McCain anymore. We all know what he is.
