Typical of modern British law enforcement they are giving burglars and muggers a free pass, while they clamp down on “crimes” like this.

I suppose it’s easier and safer for the police to arrest someone for driving with a cell phone than it is to go after real criminals in dangerous neighborhoods.

The other day I watched some guy cruise through a tollbooth fastlane apparently without a fastlane device. I presumed a camera recorded his plate.

Over the next mile or so, watched as he weaved in and out of lanes until way past me, and noticed an obscured plate. It looked like it was somehow "fogged" up, I guess to fool the cameras.

What's to prevent malicious license plate obscurations?

Smoking at the wheel was recently included in the Highway Code as something which courts can consider as a factor when police accuse drivers of failing to have proper control of their vehicle.

I'm guessing ashtrays are no longer optional equipment in British cars.

There have been several cases in the US where those unmanned cameras at speed traps have been declared unlawful. It can't make the roads safer because being an inanimate object, it can't chase down the driver and put a stop to his behavior before he kills someone down the road.
