It would essentially allow a health care provider to deem a person a risk and strip them of their 2nd amendment rights. There would be very little due process or possibility of appeal.

On Wednesday, December 19th, Congress completed debate on the Omnibus Appropriations bill and double-crossed the country. They withdrew many of their earlier border guarantees promised in the Secure Fence Act. This means the fence cannot be built!
Pulling back from the double-fence mandate is a prescription for failure that will only allow more smugglers, criminals and illegal aliens to enter the United States through our borders. This will severely undermine our national security.
The problem with this bill is that the NRA is backing it!
Without their support it would have been DOA.

“Adjudicated as a mental defective. (a) A determination by a court, board, commission, or other lawful authority that a person, as a result of marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease:
(1) Is a danger to himself or to others; or
(2) Lacks the mental capacity to contract or manage his own affairs.”
Depending on who you ask, “other lawful authority” can mean many things, a doctor, psychologist, or psychologist being some of them. It could even be the BATF. There is no presumption that the “other lawful authority” is unbiased or fair.
Its getting very bad when we can:*t trust the NRA. I will not join this org again. The GOA warned about this betrayal some time ago and here it is, but do you think the Imposter will sign it?
