"In the Iranian context, his policy is being interpreted as a change, calling for bringing to the table non-military options as well. Huckabee is of the opinion that relations with Iran deteriorated following Bush's 'axis of evil' speech. In many points his message on Iran is more akin to that of the Democrats: there is a need for dialogue with Iran, and more diplomacy is needed. He quoted the Chinese strategist Sun Tzu, who authored The Art of War 2,500 years ago: 'Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.'"

“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”
Wasn’t this Michael Corleone in “The Godfather”?

Oooops. Sorry. I looked up and down the right column and didn’t see it, so I figured it hadn’t been posted yet.
I don’t know how to remove it myself or I’d do it. I didn’t mean to break any rules.

I don’t care. I’m not the mod. I have no authoritah for you to respect. They already took care of it. Interesting post anyway.

Even if Mikey got to the White House, he'd be a one-termer like another infamous chicklet-grinnin' disgrace to Southerners:

Thank you. I read parts of “The Art Of War” every other week and grow more befuddled the more I ponder it (a personal literature program). Am I alone here? I’m getting the impression that the “great” general was putting down random thoughts without any tying together of them for any specific rationale or purposeful enlightenment.
Maybe I just don’t get it.

Sun Tzu said: “It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.”

The Iranian people are amongst the most pro-American people that exist in the Middle East. They are our friends.
Their leadership, on the other hand, just need to go.
Of course we want to cultivate friendships with the Iranians. The Iranians are our friends. We should talk with *them*.
Of course, those who hate Huckabee will spin this so that all of Iran hates the U.S.

That’s the genious of Sun Tzu.... it’s so generalized that it can never be disproven. I think it’s one of the more overrated books ever written. I wouldn’t know about the stories of whether or not he was one guy or many guys.
