Just be glad he didn’t rip up a Koran. . .
Otherwise, yes, he has the free speech to rip up a bible in school; AND OTHER STUDENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO READ THEIR BIBLES IN SCHOOL.
To: LibWhacker
Fortunately for all of us it wasn’t a Koran!
To: LibWhacker
Funny that he didn’t do that with a Quran.

Probably got the idea at home from daddy & daddy.

"He took the Bible and he said, 'I'm going to do this because I can. I'm going to do something that your stupid, little minds aren't going to be able to comprehend and he took the Bible and started ripping out pages."
At least he did this stupid, idiotic stunt here in the USA. If he had done it in Saudi Arabia with a Koran the outcome would have been far different.

Well, okay, just as long as it wasn’t a Koran.

Rosie O’donnel, are you watching us fundamentalist Christians rioting and killing in the street because of this? This kid is one sick puppy.

Sounds like the next candidate to start shooting people in churches.

Was the Bible issued by the school?
Was anyone actually threatened by his actions?
Was he punished for being disruptive?
These are the questions that need to be asked.

Actually as a minor child at a public school you don’t have any 1st Amendment rights. You are subject to the authority of the school. These “school officials” should be fired. They obviously are too gutless to do their job.

Is kicking an atheist jackass in the stones protected speech?
To: LibWhacker
Although I think that this kid is a fool, I do think he has a constitutional right to tear up a bible or a koran or whatever he wants to do, as long as it's his book. If it were a teacher, I would feel differently about the situation.
"It's not about free speech. It's not about necessarily about the Bible although that was disgusting, too. This is about the vicious, vile manner in the way this kid went about this and tried to make some kind of point," he said.
Elle Jacobson's parents are looking for another school for their daughters.
I would do the same thing for this and many other reasons. God bless America where we are free.

Although we have a protected right to express opinions, there is no protected right to unlimited vulgarity.
The boy should not be punished for expressing negative opinions about the bible. But the boy ought to be punished for being overtly vulgar while doing so.
