Modern Conservative ^ | Christopher Cook

ModernConservative.com has received a tip from a reliable source that may have election-shattering implications.

According to our source, an activist here in Arizona has been approached by the Ron Paul campaign; the campaign has requested that he run the Arizona effort to get Ron Paul on the general election ballot as a candidate of the Constitution Party.

Our source has requested anonymity, and we have agreed. We can, however, vouch for his/her general reliability. Our source also provided us with details that added credibility to the account. (Unfortunately, disclosure of those details would put at risk our promise of anonymity. We apologize for the unnamed sourcing and lack of further details, but those were the requirements that accompanied this revelation.)

We will keep you apprised of any new developments.

There has been a lot of analysis on the impact that Ron Paul has already had, and on the impact that he might...

It’s a lot of desperate, wishful thinking on our part to think that Ron is yanking support from the left.

Dont be silly, people.

Ron is yanking support from the intellectual and instinctive libertarian wings of the GOP. It’s the instinctive libertarians that are powering his 2-6 % support per state, guys that take the ‘dont tread on me’ thing seriously but dont think much beyond that, and see the GOP morphing into an authoritarian party of public morals nags.

Talk about destroying the GOP brand name with John Q ...

Elections are won at the margins. Look at the state by state breakdowns from ‘04, ‘00, ‘96 ... it dosent matter how far you go back, it’s all 49-51, 48-52 % vote splits. That’s why 3rd party candidates can take down an entire GOP or DEM candidacy ... that 1 or 2 % support the 3rd party candidate grabs is enough to flip a state over the other side.

Is Ron really p.o’d enough at the collapse of small government conservatism that he’s willing to take down the whole party in ‘08? I dont really know that much about the man beyond everyone here insisting he’s insane.

I wish the Paulie WalNUTS would get that.

They will never see it because it is "personality cult" following. Its very similar to Romney's following. They are so enamored with the idea of the candidate (vice the ideas) that, in a state of denial, they can't see the candidate is a losing proposition. In Ron Paul's case because he is a nut and in Romney's case because he is a lying, flip-flopping, big-government liberal.

At one time in the past I seriously considered supporting the Constitution Party.

If this is true(concerning LRon), they just fell off of my map.

I believe you are exactly right, sir. It's exactly what has me worried.

Excellent summary grandma.

have had a disdain for the CP ever since I got sucked into supporting them and then when I realized that they are nothing but a bunch of political opportunists who prey on suckers, like me, who part with their hard-earned money and dump it down a black hole.

Their ads here in Iowa during the 2000 and 2004 elections were aimed at defeating Bush--not Gore and Kerrey. They were trying to convince me (and other gullible voters) that Bush was more dangerous than Gore and Kerry. They're nuts.

They have never won an election and they will never win an election. It's very easy to stand there beating your breast and asking the nation to believe that you are morally superior, knowing full well, you will never have to prove anything because you're never going to have to deliver on your promises.

The CP can go take a flying leap and the only people they can help are the Democrats. Suckers!!!

All those internet polls he is winning and those millions pouring into his campaign can have a huge effect on a man's ego.

No doubt, RP is an idiot in foreign affairs, why would the Constitution party rally around a clown?

But in the past few months of pissing and moaning about Paul here at FR very few people have said he has any republican support, now people are saying he does?

I don’t see it having much of an effect on the Republicans, Libertarians hardly ever get around to voting for Republicans. That is just a ruse they use so that their candidates can masquerade as Republicans. When Rupual loses the nomination they will more than likely sit at home or vote dummycrat.

We had a CP candidate run in Pennsylvania against Rick Santorum. Like Ron Paul, he attacked the Republican far more than the Democrat. While the CP candidate only siphoned off a 1% or so of the vote, the campaign ads smeared Santorum horribly while ignoring our new democrat Senator Casey.

The only reason why Paul hasn’t been discredited more is that he is largely under the radar for the rest of the country. The more people hear him, the more they will know that he is a looney nut! Fortunately, there isn’t enough neo-nazi loons in this country to help this guy get anywhere!

You know if we united behind one Republican we could still win... oh perish the thought... RINOs need to be taught a lesson otherwise they’ll take over the party... I will not vote for (insert RINO name here) no matter what! I didn’t leave the party the party left me. Bwahahahaha! She’s playing us like a fiddle. So who will Hillary’s Secretary of State be? Will she create a new cabinet position? How about her first and maybe second Supreme Court nominee?

Paul’s support is from the anti war left with a sprinkling of right wing dead-enders. I attended a Paul event here in NH and the parking lot was full of Kucinich/Peace/No Nukes/Etc bumpa sticks.

He is by far more of a threat to Hillary than the GOP niminee — where Hil is considered “pro-war” to the far lefties.

He’d do it for the same reason anyone does it ... to spark a viable 3rd party in the US to break up the stranglehold the 2 parties have on our electoral system.

I can see why they’d be motivated to do it ... look at how close the 2 parties are on like 90 % of everything. It’s given us this ridiculous system where personality conflicts between candidates are substituted for policy differences. Lots of screaming, nastiness, childishness .. it’s indecent and probably one of the main resaons our culture has become so course and nasty. When the people being held up as ‘leaders’ operate like 3rd graders, it has an effect on the rest of us, no?

I hope Ron dosent do this. This election is already an uphill fight for us.
