ModernConservative.com has received a tip from a reliable source that may have election-shattering implications.
According to our source, an activist here in Arizona has been approached by the Ron Paul campaign; the campaign has requested that he run the Arizona effort to get Ron Paul on the general election ballot as a candidate of the Constitution Party.
Our source has requested anonymity, and we have agreed. We can, however, vouch for his/her general reliability. Our source also provided us with details that added credibility to the account. (Unfortunately, disclosure of those details would put at risk our promise of anonymity. We apologize for the unnamed sourcing and lack of further details, but those were the requirements that accompanied this revelation.)
We will keep you apprised of any new developments.
There has been a lot of analysis on the impact that Ron Paul has already had, and on the impact that he might...

I assume you are a Ron Paul supporter. I find it interesting that you feel his candidacy appeals primarily to voters on the left. I guess that means you are a liberal.
How stupid can people BE to fall for this trickery TWICE???????????????????????
“That statement makes about as much sense as a Ron Paul speech on national security. The left wants Ron Paul to run so that, just like Ross Perot in ‘92 and ‘96, he can siphon off votes that would otherwise be cast for the Republican candidate, thereby facilitating the election of the former first co-dependent or B. Hussein Obomanation”
The argument the Paul-haters make is that his support is from the left primarily. In that case, he’s a 3rd party candidate who will work the dems.
The Paul won’t admit that the GOP’s wheels are off it’s tracks and with the GOP and RNC leadership we have now, and the top tier candidates, we ain’t winning anyway.
“I have had a disdain for the CP ever since I got sucked into supporting them and then when I realized that they are nothing but a bunch of political opportunists who prey on suckers, like me, who part with their hard-earned money and dump it down a black hole.”
And this differentiates them from the GOP, how exactly?
“That is already in place; they call it the write-in vote. If no candidate offered is acceptable, write in one who is.”
If Hunter doesn’t win the nomination, I’ll write him in in the general.
If Giuliani is the GOP nominee, I’ll happily vote for Paul and relish in reading the Paul-haters defending the pro-abortion gun-grabber. That’s about the only positive thing I can see coming from Rudy winning.
Why have all of Ron Paul’s ads in Pennsylvania been anti-Republican?
You are not some neutral observer "just stating" her "observations."
Well wait a minute. Aren't you capable of thinking on your own? Just because some poster says liberals will be the Ron Paul voters you accept that.
You quote one of my posts on this thread. Are your abilities to understand a simple paragraph so limited that you think my statement says that his support comes from the left when it clearly says that he will siphon off Republican votes?
Let's try this: You tell me what impact Ron Pauls running as a third party candidate will have on the election, not what others have said. Will Ron Paul win? Will Ron Paul draw his support (votes, not financial) from libertarians and conservatives or liberals?
“Ron is yanking support from the intellectual and instinctive libertarian wings of the GOP. Its the instinctive libertarians that are powering his 2-6 % support per state, guys that take the dont tread on me thing seriously but dont think much beyond that, and see the GOP morphing into an authoritarian party of public morals nags.”
See my now long-time tagline.
The GOP lost it’s way. More and more long time supporters are feeling lost in the party. I blame it on the Bush appointed RNC and GOP leadership. Mel Martinez? Give me a break.
“Is Ron really p.od enough at the collapse of small government conservatism that hes willing to take down the whole party in 08? I dont really know that much about the man beyond everyone here insisting hes insane.”
There isn’t a lot of difference between the 2 parties except for a few wedge issues, these days. Both are fans of big government socialism solutions.
>>Paul attracts moonbats, left and right. I doubt he will have the Perot effect and if he does it will take more from the dems than the pubs.<<
That was thought also - that more than half of Paul supporters would eventually vote Democrat.
The Republicans would be smart, however to snag his online fund raising operatives, if they can.
Still processing or can you answer those questions now?
You don't get it. Paul is a leftist, his supporters are leftist kooks, and he's financially backed by leftists. Therefore, logic dictates that Paul supporters would otherwise vote for the Republican. < /Paulbasher logic>
Actually it would be the third time since '92. Perot ran as a third party candidate in both '92 and '96.
“They will never see it because it is “personality cult” following. Its very similar to Romney’s following.”
And Fred’s following. And Rudy’s following. To a lesser extent, McCain and Hunter too.
” They are so enamored with the idea of the candidate (vice the ideas) that, in a state of denial, they can’t see the candidate is a losing proposition.”
The 3 leading candidates are losing propositions. All favor big government solutions.
Don’t blame the people for leaving the GOP. The GOP is to blame for moving in the wrong direction and expecting their most ideologically fervent base to stay on. What does the GOP stand for if those who advocate small government no longer feel at home there?
“In Ron Paul’s case because he is a nut and in Romney’s case because he is a lying, flip-flopping, big-government liberal.”
I don’t think Paul is a nut. I don’t agree with him on a number of issues, but he’s not nuts.
I cannot think of a single politician who is more at odds with Paul's philosophy than Bloomberg.
Which is exactly why he would do it.
Thank you for your perspective. Now how about giving me YOUR perspective on these questions (as opposed to what other Freepers have said): Will Ron Paul win? Will Ron Paul draw his support (votes, not financial) from libertarians and conservatives or liberals?
