Bleeding-heart types looking for a "minority cause for which to advocate in the 2008 presidential elections are torn between the candidacies of a woman, two African- Americans, a Hispanic and a former mayor of Cleveland who is more of a communist than Vladimir Putin.
Tough choices, those, and all of them Democrats.
In the interest of fairness, however, the name of Mitt Romney should be added to the shopping list of those searching for an oppressed minority to support.
As a practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Romney is aligned with one of the most persecuted and oppressed minorities in history. Even in these enlightened times, millions of Americans say they would not vote for the charismatic ex-governor of Massachusetts under any circumstances.
And, in an amazing demonstration of religious bigotry, a New Hampshire liberal rag, the Concord Monitor, used its Sunday editorial pages to tell readers why they should not vote for Mitt Romney.
This "anti-endorsement" is unprecedented, unfair, un-American and unwise.
Editors at the Concord Monitor even went so far as to warn readers that Romney must be stopped ". . . because he lacks the core philosophical beliefs to be a trustworthy president."

That particular bit of editorial malfeasance is a thinly-veiled assault on Romney's Mormon faith, pure and simple.
Fact of the matter is that Mitt Romney is the most conservative candidate running for the White House. He is also the most experienced and qualified, a fact attested to by his service as the governor of liberal-infested Massachusetts, and by his enormously successful personal finances.
Mitt Romney knows how to work with people from diverse political backgrounds, how to overcome discrimination and adversity, and he knows how to run a large organization. No other candidate comes close to matching his qualifications for taking over the Oval Office on Ja
INDEED!!
The Pope merely has a ~ 800 SF apartment, while GBH has around 8,000 sf at HIS disposal!
A lot of cults get harassed, even in our lifetimes the cult called the Children of God, was so harassed that many of them fled the country, they even have missionaries that used to use what they called Flirty Fishing.
They are doing better now, they are rubbing off the ‘sharp corners’, maybe they will get a man into the White House some day. A hundred years from now, who knows?
I tell you what: You are blessed with a gift a discernment; you disseminate "no spin" in a high-cycle spin zone. You state things as they are--what should be obvious to many, but is rarely mentioned.
Please repeat this observation frequently; for it is 100% on the mark.
Yes, & the original 9/11 terrorist event of our land, the Meadow Mtn Massacre, is what tipped the scale in the non-Mormon death toll.
The story also goes that members of the Powell expedition (Grand Canyon) also met their fate at the hands of LDS in Southern Utah.
IMPENDING??
You need to get out more!

Au contraire! If I go out, I may get caught in the crossfire of religious civil war. It's everywhere - a person could get hurt!
Non-institutional Church of Christ members are setting off IEDs at institutional CoC church auditoriums...Landmarkist Baptists are beheading liberal Baptists.....and worst of all, there's no end in sight to the ongoing bloodsheed between the premillenialists and the postmillenialists.
It's enough to make one weep in despair.

LOL.

That's just not true.
Now....show us your magic underwear!

And don't forget the Mexicans, they are being persecuted right now.
They were a very tiny group and they changed their beliefs to conform to the local norm. Are you implying that the RLDS are the same as the Mormons? Emma always wanted her own church and she got her wish.
Mormons killed the Powell expedition? How and why? This is a new one to me.
There is not proof that Mormons killed the deserters of the Powell expedition but The Salt Lake Tribune, in 1993, printed a story entitled “Did Murders Happen in Mormon Ward? 1883 Letter May Solve Mystery of Trio.” Reporter Vern Anderson wrote:
“One of the abiding mysteries of Colorado River exploration remains the fate of three men who left John Wesley Powell’s first expedition in 1869 and headed for the Mormon settlements to the north.
“A letter that lay for a century at the bottom of an old trunk raises an intriguing new possibility. The trio made it to Toquerville, only to be murdered by a man who mistook them for federal agents chasing a participant in the infamous Mountain Meadows massacre.
“A never-before-published 1883 letter from William Leany to John Steele refers to ‘the day those three were murdered in our ward & the murderer killed to stop the shedding of more blood.’ “
Who cares.
The "great unwashed" are being heard!

You did once, a long-long time aqo
Mary Christmas to you too, Resty.
How convenient you can manufacture excuses for the great Ronald Reagan (a man I love and respect) yet you can't find similar political logic for a man (Romney) who simply made some pandering statements, and didn't even SIGN INTO LAW these wrongs as Reagan did.
You know, I might be persuaded to "understand" Reagan's legalizing abortion considering the liberal judge manipulation, but giving blanket AMNESTY for illegals will ALWAYS encourage more illegals to swarm across the border.
Many many good Republicans and some Democrats said so AT THE TIME -- so to claim one was duped is simply making excuses. Reagan wasn't stupid, my friend.
Remember is was REAGAN HIMSELF who said "Government IS THE PROBLEM" -- so now you expect me to believe that Reagan in 1986 suddenly believed government would prove to be the ultimate solution... the guys in white hats who would KEEP THEIR PROMISES.
Baloney!!
It was pure and simple political pandering... a mistake...the things that politicians sometimes make.
But oh no, Romney is the devil himself for simply uttering a few pandering remarks.
All of which convinces me further there is underlying deeper animosity... dare I say hatred of Mitt Romney.
And it's not just his occasional flip on this issue or that.
Again, I point out that 90% of the posters demonizing Romney don't even have a candidate they care to support.
They just want to hate Romney.
To me, that spells obsessed hatred.
Take a deep breath.
I never said a thing about Romney one way or the other in my post. I just noted that Reagan did not flip-flop on abortion. And that his amnesty proposal, which was no doubt bad, didn’t involve flip-flopping, either.
Any relationship to the Salamander Letters?
The only Mormon connection to the Powell expedition that I know of is that Jacob Hamblin helped them. Could some wacko have killed the three deserters? Who knows or cares?
Chalk it up to another episode of Mormonism you’ve never heard about.
