Clinton Ad Serves As Campaign Closer
Associated Press ^ | December 26, 2007 | Jim Kuhnhenn

Posted on 12/26/2007 3:22:37 PM PST by Baladas

TITLE: ``Stakes''

LENGTH: 30 seconds.

AIRING: Iowa and New Hampshire.

SCRIPT: No spoken script. Somber music as a text unfolds against changing images: ``A nation at war, troubles at home, America at a crossroads demands a leader with a steady hand who will weather the storms, solve our problems, rebuild our middle class and renew our greatness. Hillary Clinton - a new beginning.''

KEY IMAGES: A helmet lying upside down on the ground. A foreclosure sign. A digital display announcing the national debt at $8,348,372,939,884. Clinton supporters along a barricade with signs and placards. Clinton in profile. The exterior of a water-damaged house spray painted with ``Katrina was here.'' A baby examined with a stethoscope. A welder at work. A young boy in silhouette observing a sunlit flag. Clinton addressing a gathering. Clinton listening, hands clasped below her chin.

ANALYSIS: The ad, which will begin airing Thursday, sums up Clinton's argument for her election and lets silent images make her case. The abandoned helmet, the foreclosure sign, Katrina - all reminders of troubles that have confronted the nation. The ad subtly shifts the audience's attention to issues that would remind them of the administration of President Bush, a powerful motivator for hard-core Democratic voters.

The ad attempts to encapsulate Clinton's overarching message that she can bring about change (``a new beginning'') through strength and experience (``a steady hand'').

“America at a crossroads demands a leader with a steady hand who will weather the storms, solve our problems”

No, I don’t want a president to think their job is to solve my problems.

“Hillary Clinton - a new beginning”

As opposed to an old beginning?

Hillary Clinton - a new beginning

Cue beginning of Episode Four, "Darth Vader/Empire" soundtrack swells to a crescendo!

It also works with "Friday the 13th"

My first thought too. They're finally figuring it out. And even without the screech, her voice is a PR nightmare. The condescending, artificial tone in that Christmas ad was just plain awful. (Nevermind the jaw-dropping delusions of grandeur and superiority inherent in the ad's content.)

How'd you like to be the one that had to tell her? "Um, we all got together and came up with this great idea to go with no sound. You know, appeal to the hearing-impaired constituency and all the many, many poor people who can't afford volume on their TVs..."

She sure as **** didn’t do anything to fix any of those problems in the last 16 years. Why is she going to ‘start’ if she is elected President?

Are they airing that morbid peace NOW?

At Christmas time and New Years?

Creepy. Very Creepy. Extremely, spine chillingly creepy.

Nice try- but we have already had eight years of this...

...in the last century.

Their act is getting very stale.
