Amid growing concern over drug-resistant superbugs and nonhealing wounds that endanger diabetes patients, nature's original antibiotic honey is making a comeback.

He said the Medihoney dressing can also prevent the dangerous drug-resistant staph infection known as MRSA from infecting open wounds.
"It's been used on wounds where nothing else will work," said biochemist Peter Molan, a professor at the University of Waikato in New Zealand who has researched honey and other natural antibiotics for 25 years.
He's found manuka honey can kill the toughest bacteria even when diluted 10 times and recommends it especially for people with weak immune systems.

I have four healthy honey bee hives right here on my property. A friend of mine has three healthy hives. Don't tell anyone. We don't want the paranoid late-night radio listeners showing up :-)
As for oral hygiene, I don't see why not.
Here's something else you might try. Buy some organic coconut oil and a bottle of consumable oregano oil. Mix the two with about 4 drops of oregano oil per tablespoon of coconut oil and apply to the area that is damaged. You can melt the coconut oil in a small stainless bowl over warm water. A small amount will last a long time.
Both coconut oil and oregano oil are ostensibly natural antimicrobial agents; although, I'm not sure if that's the key to the effectiveness of this mixture. I am impressed with how effective it is on minor wounds and many skin imperfections.
I always heard it was good for allergy sufferers so my husband has some everyday with his coffee. We get a couple of cases every year because a guy puts his bees on our land.
I forgot to mention that you should be careful with the oregano oil; it’s extremely potent. One should probably not apply it directly to the skin at full strength.
PING
My grandfather who lived to be one month short of 100 years old and was healthy till the last year, claimed the hot lemon and honey drink he drank every night before bed was what made him so healthy to such a old age.
I drink cold lemon drink every morning.
I do not like sugar. Never did. I would like to make a strong ginger beer with honey and no other sugars. I love the taste of ginger beer but hate the sugar so I do not drink it. Anyone ever heard of a homemade receipt for ginger beer made with honey? And ginger extract. Can not find source for ginger extract. I was thinking something simple like ginger extract, honey and carbonated water and maybe a little peppery spice for the extra kick.
Mead is made with honey instead of sugar. I found a ginger mead on the net but have not ordered it yet.
Thanks for the ping.
Note to self,
More “Honey’s Good for Ya” info.
If you have a Wild Oats or Whole Foods store near where you live, they should have ginger extract.
Well...now I see how putting Honey on your body could have quite a positive effect.
Thanks!
