We live in an age of documents. There are no more secrets, only deferred disclosures.
Saddam Hussein's secret documents are measured by the shelf-mile and stored inside a secure but dusty facility near U.S. Central Command Headquarters in Doha, Qatar, and in several subsidiary sites.
Armed guards protect the unread dossiers. Three shifts of two hundred translators each work around the clock. Perhaps 5% of these captured documents have been studied so far, but their contents are about to shatter much of the conventional wisdom concerning Saddam's weapons of mass destruction.
The absolutists on either side of the WMD debate will be more than a bit chagrinned at the disclosures. The documents show a much more complex history than previously suspected. The "Bush lied, people died" chorus has insisted that Saddam had no WMD whatsoever after 1991 - and thus that WMD was no good reason for the war. The Neocon diehards insist that, as in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the treasure-trove is still out there somewhere, buried under the sand dunes of Iraq.
Each side is more than a little bit wrong about Saddam's WMD, and each side is only a little bit right about what happened to it.

It said later that the Syrians were going to use some of it to create “dirty” bomb material for use against Israel.
I recall Saddam throwing his whole country open to UN inspectors before we invaded.
MI Ping
They knew they had it coming, and were real quiet when it came.
Yeah...we knew it all along. The MSM and liberals just said it was a lie. We have been vindicated. This is proof there really were WMDs.
The US took Iraq's stockpiles of yellowcake and enriched uranium to the US to the UN's dismay. Iraqi scientists turned over parts and plans for uranium enrichment centrifuges over to the US. The ny times threw a feigned fit when the US published nuclear weapons plans of Iraq on the DOCENT(?) website, referenced in the article. Interrogations of saddam and his scientists showed that Iraq was just waiting for sanctions to be lifted to restart the nuke program.
Weren’t they...it says part of the reason for this Israeli Strike.
I think they were moved and buried in Syria. You?
Problem with today’s “unbiased” news media lies two ways. (Well, three ways - but lying is just another one of their problems.)
Since they (deliberately) promote the liberal/socialist/democrat/internationalist positions, and since their sources and reporters talk among themselves as infinitum among themselves, contrary information simply never gets acknowledged. SO, “conventional wisdom and talking points and one-sentence-story-summaries will NEVER include these contrary parts of the puzzle.
Then because the producers and anchors and senior editors don’t WANT to investigate contrary facts or positions opposing their belief/religious system of anti-capitalism/anti-business/anti-male/anti-white/anti-Christian/anti-oil/anti-American (all of whom are represented by Bush!) they will never go LOOKING for information like this.
So a liberal democrat gets on the TV and spews his/her/its lies, and the announcer never bothers even mentioning a contrary position, nor challenge the lies.
Only liberals oops I’m sorry you can’t use liberal and rational people in the same sentence.
No.
He SAID he was throwing everything open to inspections, but ONLY AFTER he spent 6 months stonewalling and protesting (and hiding his development tools and eqpt and partially-finished weapons).
Then, when the inspectors actually arrived (in front of TV cameras), they were slowed, delayed, prevented from checking many areas, and hamstrung from really looking - but all of the delays and interferences were concealed (deliberately) from and by the TV cameras. The TV editors chose NOT to reveal how shallow the inspections really were.
Thanks & Merry Christmas!
Good article.
Pity no one wil ever read it.
Israel does not have liberals they don’t need evidence just safety. There are no Clintons, Kennedys, Boxers etc to dispute anything. They only care about their people something liberals need to learn.

The materials were to be flown out of Iraq and the leak came, endangering the provinance of the materials in coalition hands, if memory serves. Wish I could find that link!
