Once the fair tax would be implented, all other federal taxes would cease. The LA times failed to mention the prebates.
I cannot believe that people here on FR would take an analysis by the LA slimes at face value.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
SUUURRRE they will ... maybe for a little while ... but just as sure asthe sun rises the fed will eventually bring back fed taxes ... a little at a time until we have them completely back ... with the "fair tax" too. If you don't believe it .... I have a bridge for sale
The LA times failed to mention the prebates.Where does that money come from?
Some people on FR are here for the sole reason to poopoo the FairTax plan anytime it shows up on a thread. They have there agenda and we who support the FairTax have ours. Its up to you whether you want the federal gubmint out of your back pocket or not.Just my opinion.
I didn't read the article, but I assume they left out the estimated 20% in taxes already imbedded in anything one buys and the removal of corporate taxes would re-introduce competitive pricing back into the market.
Abolition of corporate taxes would send the message to foreign corporations that America is open for business and would increase competition for workers which would naturally raise salaries across the board. This would put more disposable income into the pockets of Americans, and thus increase consumer spending which of course would mean more tax revenue to the government.
Yes , this is a totally inaccurate hit piece on the Fair Tax .
Yes, it's quite funny how MSM claims are treated as gospel if they fit FReepers' preconceived ideas.
ROFLOL!!!
I cannot believe that freepers could possibly be so gullible.
Can I sell you a bridge in New York?
Yes, they would cease until Congress decided to start monkeying around with it when not enough taxes were coming in to support their pork spending. Also, I find it disengenious that Fair Tax supporters don't point out that previously untaxed things, like prescriptions, doctor visits, hospital bills and operations would be taxed under the Fair Tax.
From the bottom of page 1 of the article,
[To ease the effect on the poor, they propose a “prebate” — a monthly cash payment to every family — to cover sales taxes on spending up to the federal poverty level.]
On page 2, it even mentions the cost of the prebate at up to $600B/yr. You can object to other portrayals in the article, but the Prebate is covered.
