A fifth of the theaters bailed on this movie last week. It has the lowest earnings per screen of any of the top ten. Hopefully many more theaters will dump this movie in order to get Legend or National Treasure for the Christmas Break.
No way this movie is making the budget back. International Gross is going to be about $70 M.
The big shock is how Dewey Cox fell apart, he’s been the second banana in some big hit comedies. Apparently he’s going to stay second banana.
I heard today on one of the sports shows that Jessica Simpson’s movie is taking a hit in the Dallas area because Tony Romo has been playing so lousy the last couple of games and the Dallas fans are blaming it on Simpson and boycotting her movie.
Gotta love in - ALVIN and the Chipmunks has almost doubled the total output of Golden Compass in 2 weeks.
Well! I guess that means all the disgruntled atheists have seen it, so it won’t be long before it hits DVD.
It won’t do any better then either....
Oh well......
Two scientologist freak flicks at the top of the box office. I refuse to support them.
The Golden Compass has turned to the Lead Baloon, that $180 million probably doesn’t include advertising. I think Chronicals of Narnia had $140 million by the end of the 3rd weekend.
S%*^(@!!! Golden Compass!
Saw I am Legend. That’s a fine movie. And it’s not a liberal one, either. It has favorable references to theistic religion, not especially Biblical Christianity, but still, very positive on that front. The virus that causes the global breakdown is NOT blamed on Republicans. So all in all this is a fine movie, very scary, Will Smith is (of course) brilliant.
Looking forward to National Treasure 2. Loved the first. Good, clean (almost entirely) film.
All hail, Xenu. Scientology ping for Smith and Cage. :(
Should be out in DVD in about a month at this rate.
I want to see “The Bucket List.”
I saw it tonight and liked it very much. It was pretty similar to the first but still lots of fun. Certainly another "good clean film" - it's a shame they are so few and far between anymore.

I loved the first NATIONAL TREASURE, so thanks for the positive short review. No liberal message in the movie? Good enough for me, and I will watch it with my gf next weekend.
I must admit, I saw Enchanted..good movie! Susan Sarandon plays herself.. a mean evil witch, and she does an excellent job at it.
I saw Juno this week and loved it, one of my favorite films of the year. It’s sort of pro-life in a subversive way, more subtly so than Knocked Up was. It even features a first in cinema history, an abortion-clinic protester who isn’t a mindless fanatic—the scene between Juno and the protester is actually sweet and charming, like the movie itself.
Our local small theater, which was probably happy they had gotten this movie, is dumping it on Christmas day, to replace it with some movie I’ve never heard of.
Yes! And here’s a video clip of Sarandon as the Evil Queen. It also shows a scene where she’s in witch/hag makeup. Excellent casting!

Why is Charlie Wilson’s War tanking? 9 mill isn’t very much for a Christmas blockbuster, with two 20 million dollar a pic stars.
I couldn't find one and I'm usually very sensitive to stuff like that.
