“Authenticity. It has become the buzzword of the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign, and the authenticity test appears to be shaping the race. “

Snort. The poll numbers say otherwise.

He or she must be consistent and appear to believe what they are he is saying, without the political artifice and calculation that savvy voters in Iowa and New Hampshire so easily reject.

Choose Fred or Duncan if you want authenticity. Choose Fred if you also want electability.

Authenticity and character have always been strong drivers of campaign success

Good God if that was true The Witch could not get nominated for dog catcher.

If Fred doesn't pick up some traction, then we could be looking at a McCain surge.

Say what you want about McCain, but he doesn't pretend to be something he isn't.

I'm not sure what McCain is, but whatever it is, its the genuine article.

With Romney, whatever it is... it's fake.

Americans want the real deal, but Clinton’s poll numbers are still high. Don’t know what to believe anymore.

This also could explain why Huckabee has higher poll numbers. I don’t agree with much of what he’s saying, but I believe he is saying what he thinks.

On one of the other threads we actually had people bragging about the virtues of Romney by saying that he never really was pro-choice, but that he just pretended to be in order to get elected Governor of Massachusetts.

There's a virtue for all of us to emulate.

Implies the current President is NOT the 'real deal.'

Very true...

Duncan Hunter is the real deal. I suppose we’ll see if this article pans out.

.

.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

About McCain One man warned us we were failing in Iraq, and told us how we could turn things around," the voice-over says."He took a lot of heat, but he stood by what he knew was right. Today that strategy is working."

Absolute lie. Like the rest of the DC Old Boy's club. McCain wanted to Americanize the war and send in 250,000 US troops.

The surge Strategy is wholly the product of Don Rumsfeild unwavering support for the Iraqis and Gen Petrau's genius. Rummy's only mistake was to underestimate how long it would take to actually get the Iraq forces up to speed. McCain did NOTHING but squeal like a stuck pig for the Leftist Media.

The success of the "Surge" is a refutation the McCain doctrine.

That’d be nice, if I had any confidence in the American electorate’s ability to recognize authenticity consistently when they saw it. Given the success of Team Clinton in the Nineties, I have very grave doubts about that ability.
