Merry Christmas! (No offense)
World Net Daily ^ | December 22, 2007 | Pat Boone

How long, how much farther, will we let an angry, disaffected, alienated, faithless few push us from our God-given liberty to express our joy and faith – whenever and wherever we choose?

Has it not become insufferable, inexcusable, for any of us to feel cowed and almost forbidden by some notion of "political correctness" to even exclaim "Merry Christmas!" to shop clerks, airline stewardesses, delivery men, even passersby on the streets and in the stores? How long will we let this go on?

The latest brouhaha, claiming "lead-item" status on the news and talk shows, is a simple, warm and earnest Christmas greeting from presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. In 30 seconds, he guesses that folks want to enjoy the season without ever-present and clamorous campaign messages, so he offers a plain, old-fashioned "Merry Christmas" greeting. He notes that the day is meant to be a celebration of the birth of Jesus, a time for family and friends to come together and enjoy hearth and home, and a time of peace and love. And he wishes us all those very things.

Cunning? Calculated? An unprincipled, callous manipulation of Christmas to further his political aims? What about those bookshelves behind his head that suggested a cross? Wasn't that an obvious premeditated ploy to remind the voters that Huckabee is the Christian candidate? The political analysts and the talk show hosts on the news networks had a field day, variously and sometimes angrily accusing Huckabee and his "handlers" of those very things. The idea that a man, even a Baptist minister, might actually and sincerely want to wish everybody a "Merry Christmas" with no other motive at all, was simply unthinkable. Who would spend campaign bucks, of which Huckabee has relatively few anyway, to do something as meaningless and altruistic as that?

Do people still give the Mail”man” a Christmas present. I'm especially referring to those men and women who walk to your house in the snow, wind, rain and sleet? Being government employees they are probably instructed not to say “Merry Christmas”; when you can lighten up their spirits by simply saying “Merry Christmas” in some cases that may be a better Christmas present then a few dollars in an envelope.

This is my email greeting I send to all.

To All My Democrat Friends:
Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere.

Also, this wish is made without regard to race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

To My Conservative Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Took the family to the local outdoor shopping center last week where some of the stores have put up terrific Christmas Decorations .
We were encouraged when we saw that some of the signs and lights actually said "Merry Christmas".
There is a Chick-Filet restaurant on the lot and they have a spectacular display of lights along with a snow making machine and a creche. There was also a Santa and a singing group from the public school.

The sound of the children singing was pleasant but we lost a lot of the good feelings engendered by the light displays and the Christmas decorations when we listened to the words.

They were singing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Holiday".

The words to other songs and caroles have also been altered to conform to the insane political correctness that is destroying our culture and heritage.
The poor children don't realize they are being brainwashed and used to achieve a secular agenda.

.

Merry Christmas to you too Rhema. This year I purposely got cards that said Holiday Wishes and sent them to all my friends. I stroked a big black Sharpie pen bold line across the middle of Holiday and wrote the word CHRISTMAS so it would read CHRISTMAS WISHES. Boy! that felt good!

***Can someone point me to the group on the left that is lobbying against the use of the word “Christmas”?***

You truly are an innocent, bleachboy. Just walk into any government school and call out, “Merry Christmas,” and you’ll see the wrath of the ACLU. In fact, you might be put into jail.

I’ve noticed this year a lot more people saying “Merry Christmas.” It warms the cockles of the heart.

There are several examples. One that directly affects our family:

My kids go to an elementary school here in Georgia. The Georgia ACLU demanded the school board to have the word Christmas removed from the school calendar. The school board folded, their explanation being they didn’t have the money to fight these psychotics.

The story was on the O’Reilly factor. In fact O’Reilly runs loons attacking Christmas frequently.

Exactly...in Florida a pre-school forced the toddlers to sing “O Holiday Tree... O Holiday Tree”

But at least no one was “offended”!

Our kids are in public school in a community north of Houston. Wednesday was there last day of school. My Kindergardner and 2nd grader spent all day singing Christmas carols and all the ‘holiday songs’, they got Christmas cards from their teachers that said Merry Christmas and from a few of the other students as well. My 5th grader watched Miracle on 34th Street and Christmas Slippers that day as well, at school. I was pleased.

Seems our district hasn’t gone crazy.... yet.

I never understood nor have I come across anyone who appeared offended by my saying Merry Christmas. It wouldn’t matter to me if it did offend them. I have always and will always say those 2 words to every clerk or other individual I come into contact with during the holidays.

When I was growing up in NJ during the 1950s, I lived in a predominantly Jewish town in an almost exclusively Jewish neighborhood. Yet at Christmas and Hanukkah I would say 99% of the homes had decorative lights or a Menorah or the traditional 7 light candelabra. Whenever I came across one of my neighbors at this time of the year I would wish them and theirs a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and they would respond with a wish for me to enjoy a Happy Hanukkah. I realize thi9s sounds backwards but that is how it was.

My Jewish friends ALL had Christmas trees, or as they referred to them “Hanukkah Bushes” which were decorated and under which presents were placed.

Those days are gone, I suppose and it is sad. However as long as I am alive I will continue to wish all a Merry Christmas and I believe it is true what another poster in this thread said. The “offense” people feel at the sight of or mention of Merry Christmas is very largely a liberal media concoction.

I love the fact that the FOX NEWS CHANNEL has short clips in which parts of traditional Carols are played and Christ is mentioned as are Angels and the words Merry Christmas.

But what is sort of sad is that I do become emotional over seeing something on TV that used to be a huge part of TV during this time of year only a few short years ago.

Unless you’re wearing a Yarmulke then it Merry Christmas from me.

I have a Japanese non Christian Nissan executive down the street from me. He has a nice wreath and some lights in his yard.

He gets it.

It’s about respecting the vast culture one inhabits.

Over Christmas we have once again been forced to bend on both knees for minority concerns.

Anything....and I do mean anything majority in this nation is now expected to be subservient to the whims of any minority....they are aggrieved.

It’s pure political power without guns or pitchforks in the street.
