You read about that poor, sweet little old welfare lady with the hardwood floors and BIG SCREEN TV forced to live in the slums of New Orleans.
But it turns out, she might not be so sweet after all

She’s got a little bit of an attitude that entitles her to that check.

I've done a good deal of volunteer work with America's "disadvantaged".
Big screen plasma Tee Vee is pretty much standard for America's "poor" these days.

The one welfare bum is wearing a t-shirt that has a wanted poster accusing the Bush Administration of mass murder.

Then our family is on skid row. We had to pull out some rabbit ears to watch the Packer game the other day.

Hehe. I think I know the guy she calls "white boy." Small world.
Talk radio and nola.com forums were abuzz with people ripping Sharon Jasper. She is the scum of the earth.

That’s the same one who owns the big screen TV.

It's nice to know that the tax dollars I pay in lieu of buying my family a big screen TV are buying one for her. NOT

Cold Heinies and a big screen TV - doesn’t get much better than that.

I don't begrudge anyone on welfare for having a TV, but the TV she has looks like the 52 inch RCA HDTV I helped my friend take home a few weeks ago. When I worked pizza delivery in 2000/2001, I did notice a lot of low income on welfare having such TV's in their homes. I have nothing against a safety net for those down on their luck and it should be geared to "teach a man how to fish" but I find it wrong that someone living off the public dole buying top of the line stuff. My buddy's TV was over $700 at Wal*Mart, I mean I don't mind her having a $100/150 TV at most although you can pick one up at thrift stores for less, but that is way too much.
Myself, I work for a living, even Mom works and my "newest" main TV is a 1982 Zenith 25 inch we got in early 1983. The set turns 25 this month and it's been in use almost from the time we got her to now. I also have our first color TV I plan to fix, a 1970 Zenith 23 inch I'd like to bring back online, if lucky, I might need a tube or two.
