It’s the fact Fred is an actor(albeit a z-list actor at that) and they think the general populace will more likely vote for him based on that and ‘know’ him. They are lost in la-la land. Who knew the GOP could also be so Hollyweird struck?! At least at the beginning it was!!
Puts a whole new perspective on things, doesn’t it?? Yes, makes you wonder. Things are going to happen after this election.
That would be a sweet selection for VP, too. My Hunter/Bolton is just a dream pic for me. Hunter/Steele might provide the Republican party the first good choice of a President of color. He’s such a good guy...and verbalizes like a star of a debate team. Ollie North has experience, and LIKEABIITY for sure. How ‘bout Hunter/Patreaus (sp?)???
Yes, I thought it had to do with something like that - recognition, but there is more I know, there has to be! Because the move itself seems like an act of desperation. When you have to go to 'Hollywood' of ALL PLACES to find your candidate?...Oh well :)
As to Reagan being an actor... Yes, he was, but those were different days and he was an unusually serious man in his politics for an actor, one of a kind!... That does not mean every actor can be a Reagan.
Merry Christmas :)
I have no use for the old man, who came off as a total clymer the one time I was unfortunate to meet him. His son, on the other hand, is a very likeable, down to earth guy. I look forward to volunteering again for his reelection campaign against Jeanne "Betty Crocker" Shaheen.
Dear John,
As someone who worked with you daily for 12 years as a United States Senator, I am acutely conscious of the fact that we disagree on many important issues. Despite our differences, you have always been willing to engage in constructive debate in an effort to forge sound public policy.
I deeply respect your commitment to our nation and your patriotism which, I believe, was forged when you-like I-proudly wore the uniform of the United States Navy in Viet Nam...
Because of the courage and character you demonstrated in Vietnam, I believe you when you say that you'll do a better job than President Bush to win the peace in Iraq, as well as to win the war against terrorism.
President Bush has failed to restrain federal spending, sending our deficit spinning into the stratosphere. I well remember that you were one of a handful of Democrats who crossed the aisle to forge a bipartisan coalition in the Senate to balance the federal budget. Therefore, I believe you will succeed where President Bush has failed, to reduce spending and once again balance the budget.
As an environmentalist who served as Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works, I know that this Administration has turned environmental policy over to lobbyists for the oil, gas and mining interests. On the other hand, I know first-hand of your commitment to a more balanced approach to environmental policy--one where we can have both jobs and profit for industry as well as clean air and water. There is no stronger evidence of this than your outstanding leadership and support in the restoration of the Florida Everglades.
John, for each of these reasons I believe President Bush has failed our country and my party. Accordingly, I want you to know that when I go into the booth next Tuesday I am going to cast my vote for you. So will my wife, Mary Jo, and all three of my children: Jason, Bobby and Jenny.
Moreover, I will do all that I can to encourage my friends in New Hampshire and Florida to join me in supporting you.
I wish you Godspeed, and every best wish for victory next Tuesday.
Cordially yours,
Bob Smith
U.S. Senator, N.H. (Retired)
Now, here is Bob Smith publicly endorsing someone he knows is a traitor. How can anyone now take anything Smith says with the least bit of seriousness? Thank God that we NH Republicans threw this clown out of office back in 2002!
I’ll take him over the unpredictable and embarassing Smith any day.
“Former New Hamp. Senator Bob Smith announcing waisting his endorsement of Duncan Hunter.
There, fixed it”
I’m afraid you didn’t. Not only is your analysis absurd, but so is your spelling.
“Wasting” is the word you were apparently searching for.
“After that, if Hiltery is the nomineee on the RAT side, I will vote for Satan himself on the GOP side.”
The good news is that Satan will not be running on the GOP side, she is running as a Dem now. You won’t have to vote for her at all.
BTTT
NH surprise?
In the minds of liberals, anything between New York and California is “Flyover Country.” That includes the home states of Algore, Mike Huckabee, Fred Thompson, John McCain, John Edwards, Barack Obama, Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul.
A good endorsement for Hunter, and I hope Smith gets back into public policy stuff in the semi-near future. Maybe a run for NH Governor?
Smith is a super-strong conservative, which is why he is endorsing Duncan Hunter!
WTG Senator Smith!
Together with Senator Smith’s great endorsement, let’s do OUR part to help Duncan Hunter win the NH primary.
Call a talk show that airs in NH, and if you, or if you have friends from NH that support Hunter, tell them to write an editor’s letter.
