A bipartisan effort in Washington to encourage the president to free imprisoned U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean in time to spend Christmas with their families is gaining ground.
A new bipartisan coalition yesterday delivered a letter to the White House, and another resolution, also a bipartisan plan, is advancing through the U.S. House of Representatives. Both ask President Bush to commute the agents' prison sentences.
However, there's been no indication the White House would respond positively to the requests. In fact, this week a conference committee finalizing the Omnibus Appropriations Bill stripped out an amendment co-sponsored by Reps. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., Ted Poe, R-Texas, and Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., that would have removed funding for the Bureau of Prisons to keep Ramos and Compean jailed.
While there is no official record made of congressional conference committees, sources in Congress told WND the amendment was removed with the blessing of the White House. The amendment had passed without objection on July 25.

I don’t see it happening. Bush is “loyal” to a fault. Not loyal to you and me, or loyal to the Border Patrol, but he is loyal to Scotter and Johnny (his friends). If he commuted their sentence, that would be like admitting his Johnny is wrong. Ain’t gonna happen.
Sadly, I believe you are right. Let’s hope our next President will stand up and do the right thing.
There are petitions all over the Net on this. I have written Bush but we all know that stubborn pride is one of his keys as we saw in borders, Dubai, illegals et al.
I’m sure they must have served at least a month for each shell the picked up in order to cover their tracks. Let go back to work at the BP.

RAMOS/COMPEAN Ping
Please freepmail me if you want on or off this list.
But mostly loyal to globalists and Mexico.
Thanks for the ping.
Duncan Hunter got the bandwagon going and glad others have jumped on board for R & C.
It is beyond a crime that they haven’t been pardoned.
I am tired of the illegals here driving drunk & on drugs
killing people and getting a few years to go out and do it again and then R. & C. sit for yrs. for doing their job.
oh yes, the Huckester playing it down the middle.
That guy is a poor excuse for a human being
LOL. Well, he’s late to the party—but at least he will look at it!
That’s more than the current administration has offered.
(Huck is on my “will not vote for” list, based solely on his support for the Global Warming scams.
Only he and Rudy share that ‘honored’ position on a list.)
This is now into the appeals stage, where as it is turning out, the prosecutors appear to have kept vital evidence about their star witness from judge, jury, and defense.
So now it's safe for johnny-come-latelies to bloviate quite safely by calling for "reviews." Forget "reviews." Forget pardons from Nuestro Presidente, Jorge Arbusto. What we need now is an honest appeals judge to first dismiss the case and then bring down the wrath of Christ upon Sutton and his staff, if they indeed did what we all think they did and it can be proven.
That would be a good Christmas. For ramos and Compeán, next Christmas will be sweeter still when their civil suits get underway, if they are not paid to go away long before.
Bush’s blind loyalty will be a blot on his legacy.
