Aide: Candidate to take money and 'try to spread the message of freedom'
Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has received a $500 campaign donation from a white supremacist, and the Texas congressman doesn't plan to return it, an aide said Wednesday.
Don Black, of West Palm Beach, recently made the donation, according to campaign filings. He runs a Web site called Stormfront with the motto, "White Pride World Wide." The site welcomes postings to the "Stormfront White Nationalist Community."
I’ve read through stormfront, and this isn’t a crowd of people conservatives should ever see as reputable. Marginalize them and avoid them.
Ron Paul should do the same, if he wants any reputation at all.
Giving Don Black money now I think would be wrong, because as I just said, it would just go to what Don Black wants, instead of something good. But hey, if you like the idea of a racist having more money, that's up to you.
Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? Come on. Paul can burn it, donate it, return it, whatever, but the argument that he would make the racist richer by returning his money is a reach. You Paulistas look more stupid every day.
Maybe he should burn it or something...but I’d be damned before I got caught stroking a $500 check to a known Nazi, regardless.
But right now, the racist is 500 dollars poorer, and that money will go towards promoting freedom and restoring our rights and protecting the constitution. From my perspective, it is better for it to go to THAT, than for some racist creep to have it.
I apologize. I din’t mean to put words in your mouth. I was only quoting you.
If Paul spends this money on his campaign he’s no better than the racist who donated it.
And your last line was another falsehood, but as a Paul hater, I'm sure you probably think that any money going to Paul's campaign is bad. Whatever. Who do you support, btw?
Sheesh. Read my replies. I only quoted one comment you made.
You’re paranoid and a waste of my time.
I was thinking the same thing, wow Ron Paul must be doing really well for all of this fuss.
Me: "I didn't say he would make him richer, you're trying to put words in my mouth."
You: "I dint mean to put words in your mouth. I was only quoting you."
And then I asked you to point out what exactly you were quoting. (if that's ok with you, that I prefer to not be misquoted) But if you don't want to answer, fine. I'm also tired of this conversation.
“I guess it doesnt hurt that Paul shares the Aryan Nations position on the state of Israel.”
To be fair his position is to end all foreign aid and meddling in other countries affairs.
The Bush position was apparent at Annapolis - the Saudi plan, with Israel dividing Jerusalem.
He ran in 2000 and 2004 on the promise to move th US embassy to Jerusalem - it hasn’t happened yet.
Bush has pushed for more serious concessions from Israel than Clinton did!
LOL! I can’t stop reading it now!
. But hey, if you like the idea of a racist having more money, that's up to you.
Not to be nitpicky, but I wasn't saying he was going to make a profit. :-p (of course he's not going to have more than what he originally started out with) I just meant from this point forward. Right now he is out 500. If gets the money back, he has 500 more than what he had 5 minutes ago. But this arguing is silly. It was a misunderstanding of my words.
You’re right. We got into a stupid argument. Sorry about that.
Think about how much real damage he could be doing to real people, his patients!
Virtually, nothing.
Here's what I said in your linky:
(A) He hasn't returned the money, but I can understand his rationale for not doing so. Paul's critics want to get him into a situation where he's on the defensive apologizing for beliefs he doesn't believe in, which makes him weak in the eyes of voters. See what happened to George Allen & Trent Lott.
(B) He has denounced white supremacists on the PBS special last Friday. He has a statement that denounces racism on his campaign website.
Dude, why are you always pinging the Mods and Jim? We’re adults here, OK?
But Jean, you don’t give a damn one way or another who Paul gets the money from. You’re not going to vote for him anyway. So why the faux outrage?
