DENVER(AP) --- Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo says he will make a "major announcement" Thursday about his long-shot campaign but did not say what it would be.
Tancredo, a congressman representing the southern Denver suburbs, scheduled a news conference in Des Moines.
Tancredo has consistently polled at the back of the seven-person GOP field. He has based his campaign on opposition to illegal immigration, running television ads that link lax border security to terrorist attacks, rape and other crimes.

And Tancredo’s 1% added to Hunter’s 1% accomplishes what?

I’ll bet he announces his dog went missing, coincidentally when the Huckabee family was in town.

Well, he should drop out. If only he could take Paul, McMeMeMe, and Giuliani with him.

Maybe we should have 4-5 co presidents....Duncan for immigration, Fred for everything else and duncan for VP too.

IMO, Tancredo endorsing anyone other than Hunter, is like Gilchrist endorsing Huckabee. Would make absolutely no sense.

What, in the polls? We'll see what happens when the media has to shut up for a minute and let the actual voters have their say.

To endorse someone who hasn't shown any better polling than he has would be a waste. I just don't see Tancredo throwing all he's fought for into the wind.
And I see now as the perfect time for it to make an impact. Tancrado has been hitting the radio ads hard here in Iowa. Whoever he endorses is likely to get a bounce from that issue. Now is just close enough but not to far from the primary here for that to make an impact. My money says he endorses Fred.

In that senario it would have to be Huckabee, Romney or Thompson and Thompson has a very slim chance of being the outright winner.Iowa isn't so much about winning as being in the top 3. At least for Fred. And with a Tancredo endorsement, that could help him accomplish that. Look at Iowa's track record. It isn't all that great as far as picking Presidents.

Actually Tanc polls around 3% with between 9 and 12% undecided. Its called momentum and Huck and Mitt are losing theirs.
Mitt has been in Iowa forever and Huck had his day. If Fred gets his 3% he bumps up to around 14% or 15%. At this point why are there still so many undecided when they all know Mitt, Huck, Rudy and John so well already?

I think you are right. Tancredo will endorse Thompson because Thompson has it right on immigration. Mission accomplished. Steve King’s endorsement of Thompson is the indicator since Tancredo and King are good friends.

Sounds good to me. But it’s wishful thinking on the part of many of us here on FR whether combined as you did or in the reverse.
That’s an even bigger “IF” than what Tancredo will do tomorrow, IMHO.

Rudy needs to stay in the race until McCain drops out. If he goes, 10 to 2 he endorses McCain and oh what a bounce that will be.
Fred needs to make a move because after Florida, my guess is Rudy closes up shop and backs McCain.
