Tancredo to make "major announcement" Thursday on GOP bid (dropping out?)

DENVER(AP) --- Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo says he will make a "major announcement" Thursday about his long-shot campaign but did not say what it would be.

Tancredo, a congressman representing the southern Denver suburbs, scheduled a news conference in Des Moines.

Tancredo has consistently polled at the back of the seven-person GOP field. He has based his campaign on opposition to illegal immigration, running television ads that link lax border security to terrorist attacks, rape and other crimes.

Tancredo is an excellent congressman. He has always been my second choice.

This guy has been solid since day one. I mean it.

Rarely do you find anyone such as Tom who is unwavering in his commitment on the border.

I am so glad he has been in the race, and he has kept the heat on everyone to have ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION as the top issue, and I hope it stays the top issue regardless what Tancredo does tomorrow. At any rate, my hearty salute goes out to all the Tancredo folks for supporting their man even when the MSM ignores them, or Bushbots insult with "he can't win" kind of crap I am sick of hearing about. I know how it feels.

Note my #142 just now.

Below.

At any rate, very best to you and your candidate--Tom Tancredo--regardless of how things go tomorrow--politics can be TOUGH and DISAPPOINTING, but if we are all patriots, we are trying to get to the same place--albeit through different vehicles sometimes.>p>Tom is a fighter nonetheless, and America has been much better off due to his service and unrelenting support for Border Control, against all odds, while serving in the House and out on the campaign trail. It grinded my gears when the RINOS and Bushbots and Reconquistas would insult him or disregard him. Tancredo is a great American.

I disagree with you Thompson supporters about TANCREDO.

The issue is not 1% or 3% or 5% as a measure of someones patriotism or relevance. Tom Tancredo was and is one of the best, but the MSM has blocked him out as they have with others they see whom carry a message which threaten their interests.

I am so sick of this "he cannot win" as a reason to support a person or not. It to me as all about philosophy of the candidate and his personal characteristics, not about a horse race. In this sense, Tancredo passed in both areas, his philosophy was/is ROCK SOLID and he is a man as far as I know above reproach in a personal sense. After that, I just dont CARE if the dinosaur media tells me or insinuates to me not to vote for him because of his "chances".

This race benefitted GREATLY by having Tom Tancredo in the race.

“You can point it out all you want. But Hunter is rising.”

Pissant, as much as I like your views. This is not true. I wish it was.

IMO, Tancredo endorsing anyone other than Hunter, is like Gilchrist endorsing Huckabee. Would make absolutely no sense.

Has anything in this election made sense yet? ;-)

Glad you align with a moderate.

Look, Hunter's a good man, and I respect him as a man. But we differ on some important policy areas; mostly on trade. I simply believe that free trade is good for us, and Hunter doesn't. That's a fundamental difference of opinion, and it's important to me. I'm not afraid to back a second-tier candidate; I was a Keyes guy back in 2000 (now I think he's nuts). But Thompson and Romney are the guys in the race who line up with my views the best, and those are my favorites.

Rudy and Romney. Neither has any issue they're promoting,

Giuliani at least is running on some sembelence of "win the WoT", regardless of my opinion that he really has no qualifications to do so that make him in any way better than the rest of the field minus Paul.

For the life of me, I have no idea what Romney's priorities as President would be. He's got a committee-written, focus-group-approved white paper for every issue, toeing the "conservative" line, but I've never seen anyone lay out what the top 3 or 5 things Romney wants to do.

I mean, everyone else in the GOP race has some kind of priorities:

But where to put Romney's priorities?
