(Who would the terrorists vote for?)

Well, he’d resign and the Lt Governor would appoint him, but it would be a bad show for him to do that, given that he was just reelected as Governor last month. Voters don’t look kindly on that sort of office-swapping, even with popular Governors.

He could do as fieldmarshaldj said, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I'm not from Mississippi, but I'm not terribly excited about Pickering or Wicker. Both have piss-poor records in the House when it comes to fiscal issues. If they're indicative of Barbour's preferences, then maybe it's a good thing Barbour isn't going to be a Senator any time soon. I hope that's not the case.
I don't know much about Brent Warr, except for the fact that he seems to have done an good job during Katrina. If nothing else, it'd be good to have a fresh face in the Senate.

Could Barbour appoint himself? Not officially. but he could cut a deal with the Lt. Gvoernor wherein he resigns and the Lt. Gov. appoints him.
That happened in Minnesota after Mondull became VP, but it backfired, as the Dimmycraps lost the governorship, the Senate seat, and the other Senate seat that had opened up by the death of Senator Humphrey.

"Could Barbour appoint himself?"If Barbour had any designs on a future presidential run, he's better off staying out of the Senate and staying put as Governor.

Haley is working hard to get Mississippi back on track after Katrina. Folks seem to think things are back to normal, but they're not. Fully 1/3 of the homes on the coast were destroyed or damaged severely. Many have not been built back because folks were waiting to hear if their insurance company was going to honor their claims. Some will never come back, but the biggest thing hurting the Coast right now is that many businesses, especially those along the water, have not returned.
I'm thinking Haley knows he's got time. When his term is up, there will be plenty of things he can do.
