It does reflect the majority, hypocitical, opinion of those who, as our Lords & Masters, would not hesitate to use it against the peasants "for the good of the regime state".
If we abolish the death penalty, how are we going to be able to properly handle most of the UN ambassadors?
Anytime I find myself agreeing with the majority of world opinion (OK, I haven’t actually ever done that), I stop and re-examine that opionion. I know it must be wrong, somehow, and it is up to me to spot it.
The majority of humankind has s*** for brains.
So are Iran, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Packistan, China, North Korea gonna stop executions now?
