If these activists had any common sense, they would take advantage of this situation, where visitors are cooing over the adorable whales in their Santa hats, to remind them that their country’s government promotes the wholesale slaughter of these animals under the guise of “research”.

"Sadly, the aquarium owners seem to be showing as little respect for whales as their Government." Putting a Santa hat on a whale is hardly comparable to harpooning it.
An Australian whale-watching official, Mr Peter Lynch, said the aquarium display was disrespectful to the whales, adding: "The real irony lies in the fact that the general population in Japan have no idea what's going on in Antarctica."
So SHOW them, moron, instead of whining about the innocuous Santa hats, which these well-fed, safely housed whales don't appear to mind a bit.
