According to the Catalan newspaper La Vanguardia, the Spanish football club Barcelona is altering its famous badge in some Arab countries in order to avoid offending Muslims.
The badge is especially altered in Saudi Arabia or Algeria, where the Barcelona shirts are being sold without the red cross of Saint George, the patron saint of the Catalan region which Barca claims to represent, the La Vanguardia newspaper found in a private investigation.
The badge, which was created in 1906, features a single vertical red line in Saudi Arabia and Algeria, due to the fact that there, the red cross represents the symbol of the brutal mediaeval Christian crusades against Islam.
La Vanguardia, in its Saturday edition, expressed its indignation as well as shock, asking the officials of the club to respond to the situation.
The investigation is expected to cause some debates among Barca fans, as it would be the second time in the clubs history when the badge is being altered. The first time was during the Franco period (1939-1975), when Barca had to remove from their badge the red and yellow stripes of the banned Catalan regional flag, due to the fact that the regime did not approve any signs of Catalan autonomy or separatism.
Only when Franco was close to his death the club received permission to put the red and yellow stripes back onto their badge.
The emerging scandal comes after the problematic episode encountered by Italian champions Inter Milan in September, when they played in white shirts with a big cross on the front against the Turkish club Fenerbahce.
The Turkish media harshly criticized the Italian team, saying that they used those particular shirts in order to offend Muslim sentiments. Turkish lawyer Baris Kaska requested UEFA sanctions for Inter over charges of racist superiority of a religion.
And are the offended teams going to remove any muzz symbols from their badges and shirts? I doubt it highly.
Even more reason to suspect the whole sport of soccer.
What will they do - explode?
Paging Muslim Rage Boy!
How long until Arsenal will be forced to remove the cannon from their badge because it's too militaristic?
“...due to the fact that there, the red cross represents the symbol of the brutal mediaeval Christian crusades against Islam.”
But someday the glorious Islamic empire will once again extend to Spain and they will safely be muslim lands once more.
The soccer stadium will also be able to serve as a public execution ground.
I'm feeling pretty good about those 'brutal mediaeval Christian crusades'. The Muslim's path to Jerusalem was soaked in blood. And still is today, come to that.
it has nothing to do with soccer. its just these retards giving in to the muslim community.
just like teams here that are changing their mascots because the native indians are offended.

Note that the Beşiktaş is the only Turkish club which is entitled to have the Turkish flag on its emblem, because it once represented Turkey against the Greek national team. The flag is an enduring legacy of officially sanctioned ethnic and religious supremacy.
That any club that has historic reasons for having a cross or other religious symolism in their official uniforms/flags/banners is enough for that to stay in place.
The Crusades were a defensive effort to reclaim Christian lands that had been conquered by Muslims.
This would be like the Atlanta Braves demanding that the New York Yankees change their team name when they come to town. After all, the North conquered the South and burned down Atlanta.
Has the whole world gone nuts or am I just trapped in a recurring loop nightmare?
I think they should knock down the minarets to avoid offending Spaniards.
Soccer is like Rollerball. It is the way xenophobic and nationalist rage is expressed nationstates in the “old world”. They are upset with US/us because we don’t care about their game.
And yet to hear of it, it is Bush and the neocons redacting what everyone says these days.
But we do. They are called the damn yankees for the whole series.
On the other hand, in this day of increasing globalization, it’s good to still see some displays of unabashed nationalism.
And if the US team ever made it to the semis of the World Cup, everybody in this country will be watching and chanting “USA!!! USA!!!”
I’m neither Christian nor Muslim, but this act by the Spanish team was pandering at its worst. Of all nations they could have stooped to, they chose Saudi Arabia?!! That excuse of a nation should have had its Satanic soul blown off to bits for all the Wahabbi activities that it has sponsored over the course of this century, responsible for the vast bulk of Islamic terrorism today. Besides, the Saudis are the most intolerant, arrogant excuses for life-forms that ever walked this earth, bi-pedally.
Not only that, it contains the word "arse", which could offend even more weaklings.
Go Gunners!
