‘Ey! Geno and Joey learna to speaka da english!
Yoose can too!
“... a nativist ...”
That is the scary one. Making being proud or protective of being an American illegal, unethical or immoral.
This inquisition against Joey is offensive to me.
My human rights are being violated.
Shut it down immediately or I’ll sue.
If someone doesn’t like Geno’s sign its just about 30 paces to the order window at Pat’s. Just be careful not to get hit by any stray bullets along the way. It is Philly, after all.
Allen signed the complaint because the commission - which enforces laws against discrimination - could find no one to testify being denied service for linguistic impropriety at Geno’s, which served 780,000 people last year. Both sides agreed no one has ever been denied service because they no speaka da English.
Geno’s actions aren’t on trial, it’s the wording of the sign, which commission attorney Paul M. Hummer said was (constitutionally protected) political speech when used at a rally, but discriminatory when glued to Geno’s window. Because it is near a sign giving management the right to refuse service to anyone, it’s an “implied threat,” Hummer said.

So I guess the signs that say, “No shoes, No shirt, No service” are implied threats also.
He was on the radio this morning doing interviews. He says he will close it down before he gets rid of the sign.
Good for him! Stand your ground Joey!
Geno makes a great cheesesteak. Not only that, he’s right about this. Libs go to Pat’s.
Is this the same govt organization\individual giving the boy scouts in filthydelphia all the grief?
I wonder if he speaks his native language, likely Italian. If so he should refuse to speak English at the hearing.
The part of Geno’s sign that they really object to is the very first part: “This is America...”
Generally speaking, it is only hispanics who complain about anything having to do with the English language. It is (again, generally speaking) only hispanics who toss a fit about not being given options in a language other than English. Whenever I call a company or a service and I get a recording, the only two options given are (Press 1 for English) and (whatever gibberish Spanish, 2 for espanol); there is no 3 for German, no 4 for French, no 5 for Cantonese, etc. You get the picture.
The greatest insult in American history is a horde of hispanic invaders refusing to learn our national language (which, even though the PC politicians won’t admit it, is English) and going one step further: demanding WE learn THEIR language.
I’ve had it with them. Come to America legally (like my mother did), and you will be welcomed with open arms. Come here illegally, and on top of that insult us, and you will get short shrift, and likely get your sorry asses kicked back to whatever hell home you came from.
You know, this is nothing more than something driven by hatred and guilt of white people.
The people who are trashing the guy are the same sort of people who came up with the concept of the “ugly American.” You know, the American tourist who expects the rest of the world to speak English! They tut-tut over how the visitor should try to speak the language of the location. After all, “when in Rome...”
But when a business owner simply asks that people order in the defacto language of this country (although that’s changing, thanks to the open borders), these very same people go apoplectic, screaming about how expecting people living in an English speaking nation to speak English is discrimination, and yes, even RACIST!
I think that Geno’s needs to accept orders in every language. You never know when someone from Paupau New Guinea might feel a hankerin for a philly steak and cheese sandwich, and have to order it in Motu. And then there’s a chance that someone who’s only fluent in ancient Samarian might want to place an order... Or Mandarin Chinese.
Of course, when someone orders something in a foreign language, I think that Genos should just give the customer whatever the cook feels like giving him, pointing to the sign stating “No Refunds!”

A brother of the Canadian Human Rights Commission -- which has charged Mark Steyn with "hate speech".
And both are cousins of the Peoples' Courts in the Stalinist USSR -- who charged people with "thought crimes".
Kangaroo courts like this simply do not belong in free countries like the United States of America (or Canada).

Follow the money....
Hopefully when this is over he’ll sue the city.
Nobody has mentioned that you don’t need to speak English to say ‘cheese wit’.
I’m sad now that I did not go to Geno’s the one time I was in Philadelphia.
