Action Alert: Bobby Scot: "Christmas, Bah Humbug!"
Congressman Bobby Scott has nothing on old Ebenezer Scrooge.
A resolution recognizing the significance of Christmas and the importance of the Christian faith overwhelmingly passed the House this week. The resolution recognized that "Christmas, a holiday of great significance to Americans and many other cultures and nationalities, is celebrated annually by Christians throughout the United States and the world," "Christians and Christianity have contributed greatly to the development of western civilization" and "the United States, being founded as a constitutional republic in the traditions of western civilization, finds much in its history that points observers back to its Judeo-Christian roots."
Amazingly, one Congressman from Virginia voted "NO" on this simple resolution - Representative Bobby Scott from the 3rd Congressional district joined just 8 other Democrats in voting against recognizing the significance of Christmas!
While those opposed to our most sacred holiday claimed a "separation of church and state," that argument didn't stop them, including Scott, from voting in favor of a resolution earlier this year that recognized "commencement of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal, and commended Muslims in the United States and throughout the world for their faith."
Apparently in their world, separation only applies to one religion - Christianity.
Action: Please contact Congressman Scott's office and demand an explanation for why he voted against Christmas! To send an email, click the link below. If you prefer to call, his Washington office number is 202-225-8351.
On Tuesday, the United States House of Representatives voted almost unanimously for Congressman Steve King's (R-IA) Resolution, H. R. 847, officially recognizing Christmas. Congressman King's resolution passed 372-9 with 10 voting "Present" and 40 Members of the House not even voting. There were 17 Democrats who voted for H.R. 635 sponsored by Eddie Bernice Johnson (Democrat from Texas) in October which commended Muslims in the United States and throughout the world for their faith and recognized Ramadan, the "holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal," but yet could not bring themselves to vote on Tuesday for Congressman King's Resolution "recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith."
Here are the names of these 17 Democrats. The 8 Democrats who voted FOR the resolution, H.R. 635, recognizing Islam and Ramadan and voted AGAINST the King resolution, H.R. 847, recognizing the importance of the Christian faith and Christmas: Congressmen Gary Ackerman, D-NY; Yvette Clark, D-N.Y.; Diana DeGette, D-CO; Alcee Hastings, D-FL; Jim McDermott, D-WA; Bobby Scott, D-VA; Fortney "Pete" Stark, D-CA; and Lynn Woolsey, D-CA.
Bobby Scott is a freaking embarrassment.
Yup. He’s just a crazed rabble-rouser.
Here are the roll call votes.

I found it interesting that Cong. PAUL did not vote for the Christian resolution, but did vote FOR the Ramadan/Islam reslolution.
I read this dreck, and then asked about the "lip" he was willing to give Ramadan ... no cogent response.
I told this worker bee that, as a black woman, I was ashamed of Scott's double standard, and asked her to pass my opinion of him along. I also asked if Scott's position was supported by any of the Presidential candidates; she didn't know, of course.
I ended the call with a cheery "Merry Christmas!" I'm ending all my phone calls that way nowadays.
Well at least Hunter played both sides of the fence and din’t vote for either.
Another typical statement by Comrade Scott.
Yes, it is true, you get the type of government you deserve. The people from his district certainly got what they deserved when they elected him. Unfortunately the rest of the nation must suffer as well when he casts his vote in Congress.
TSR,
Maybe a FREAK State PING is in order for those of us with voting friends and family just across the river??
For those of you with friends and relatives in VA...
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Get a load of this guy...
In that case, it'll be fun watching him go down in flames in the primaries. Iowa, here we come!
Didn’t see that, but not a whole lot surprises me about Congressman Paul.
I won’t be surprised if he uses all his dough to start up a third party campaign effectively giving the election to whichever Dem is standing on the ballot.
Circumstances, rather than trying to dodge the vote, caused some to miss the vote.
Some missed the vote because of bad weather in their home district. Steve King, R-Iowa, was one of the main backers for the Christmas resolution, but he could not get to the vote as a storm in Iowa had snarled transportation.
At least one Dem, who missed the vote, apparently had a committee or important meeting previously scheduled at the same time as the vote.
I’m sure that some Dems missed the vote on purpose, but it may be hard to specify for certain which Dems those are.
See link at #5 for a list of the votes.

Like i said, nothing surprises me on Paul.
He’s an enigma wrapped in a jellyroll, carefully nestled in a tin-foil hat.
Thanks for the ping. The devil certainly has been busy lately.
