When I heard he had died it was a very sad time for me. He was and is a major inspiration to me. I also am a musician and much of what I play and write is inspired by people like him. I travel the country now and by my side at all times is my Gibson SG double neck and one of my Les Pauls. He will be missed!

This last year the good lord has taken more than one good musician from us. He must enjoy good music as much as we do!

Please listen to just one song and think about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVKp899kRmw It is a beautiful song on so many levels. I cannot describe his music as being of a single genre but it affects all that hear it and I have never had a person say ‘I don’t like it!}.

Oh!!
Another one of my favorites from Dan’s earlier albums!
Everything he did was so very special.
Dan’s music was like nothing I had ever known...and I NEVER found anything that measured up to it...I don’t expect I ever will.

I've been listening to and being uplifted by Dan Fogelberg for over 30 years.
Mr. Fogelberg was a master musician, singer, composer, arranger... and philosopher / story teller.
The Innocent Age is his masterpiece and the album holds particular meaning to me as it was released the year I graduated from highschool. The songs on it have been constant companions throughout my adulthood.
Dan's fusion of classical and rock styles is unequaled. His music is combined with lyrics of such depth that, even after 30 years, I am still learning to appreciate what he's saying as his words apply within the context of each unfolding chapter in my life.
Dan Fogelberg will be missed.... and remembered.
Soaring alone upon a threatening wind
Just fix your eyes on the horizon
Cut off from everything
You've known or have been
I shouldn't think it's so surprisin'
Spiraling upward on a freshening lift
Reaching the realms of fleet Apollo
You have been given the most sacred of gifts
You must be fearless now and follow
[Chorus:]
Don't look down
Though your heart may be weary
Don't look down
Though your wings are on fire
Don't look down
Though the night may seem endless
There's a reason you're flying
This fast and this far

I never thought of that song in this way before. But you're right. Thanks for sharing the insight.

Yes- I heard the song but have not been able to download it yet! ( I think I will be able to this weekend!)
I am so thrilled to know there will be an album and some previously unrecorded songs from Dan, later this year!
Our one last gift from the wonderful Dan Fogelberg!
Thanks for posting this here.
Oh! One more thing that I want to mention is that there have been A LOT of Fogelberg videos posted on Youtube - Since his passing in Dec. Quite a few live performances that I had not seen. I have been enjoying them and have posted some on my blog!

Thanks for reposting that. That was a great night. I saw Mark Knopfler at Red Rocks on June 24th and a lot of memories of Dan’s last concert there in 2002 were brought back. So hard to believe he is gone but am looking forward to the release of “Love in Time”.

Perhaps if men lived with annual PAP smears since their late teens, as women do, they wouldn't be so leery of a five-second rectal probe. Yes, it's mortifying. But it's over quick and you (and your wives) have relief from wondering if there's something wrong down there.
Do it, guys. It's not that bad.
