As on Sunday morning, just about 60% of the United States in now under a cover of snow and ice. Youd think pushing an extremist view of global warming would be a tough sell at this time. So where did the UN decide to hold its latest climate conference? Not at the headquarters in New York City but in a very warm location just south of the Equator on the Indonesian Island of Bali. While at that conference, the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, received a letter from 100 of the worlds prominent scientists. Apparently the media in Canada and Great Brittan have found this a significant enough event to give it plenty of coverage but Ill bet you havent heard about this in the US media. The main emphasis of the letter is:
Attempts to prevent global climate change from occurring are ultimately futile, and constitute a tragic misallocation of resources that would better be spent on humanitys real and pressing problems.
Also:
it is not established that it is possible to significantly alter global climate through cuts in human greenhouse gas emissions. On top of which, because attempts to cut emissions will slow development, the current UN approach of CO2 reduction is likely to increase human suffering from future climate change rather than to decrease it.
Many of the 100 scientists are current or former members of the IPCC and have spent their careers studying this issue and they have concluded:
In stark contrast to the often repeated assertion that the science of climate change is settled, significant new peer-reviewed research has cast even more doubt on the hypothesis of dangerous human-caused global warming.
But the only coverage I have seen about this conference, is of Al Gore saying things like this:
And soon, it will not be too extreme to say that the world will justifiably look at Bush as the enemy of humanity.
Here is another example of how the concept of fair and balanced journalism does not not apply in this country to this issue. You can read here a very entertaining dairy of events at the Bali conference from someone who is not one of the Kool-Aid slurpers as he calls the AGW believers.
I think it’s high time we start a list of all the horrors being reported in the news that are allegedly caused by anthropogenic global warming.
A few that come to mind off the top of my head are:
- Walrus stampedes (now there are two words you never expect to see together!)
- Drowning polar bears
- Drowning humans (esp. islanders that live on atolls)
- Hurricanes (that never happened)
- All the ice in the Arctic melting
- The Gulf Stream current going away
- Destruction of coral reefs
- (fill in the blanks)
It’s very telling that the only “solution” being proposed by the globocrats at the U.N. is a global carbon tax. That solution will certainly cool off some folks, since they won’t be able to afford to heat their homes.
You make an interesting point. With all the manipulation of existing temperatures to make global warming plausible, who is going to notice or say anything if the earth’s temperature falls? What scientist will have the courage to buck political correctness and announce something like this?
There is a website for that. Rush read the claims from it about a week ago. He may have a link on his site.
Doesn’t fit the agenda of the drive-by’s...
**In stark contrast to the often repeated assertion that the science of climate change is settled, significant new peer-reviewed research has cast even more doubt on the hypothesis of dangerous human-caused global warming.**
BTTT!
I think this is the site Rush mentioned - http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/warmlist.htm
Then they'll just say they made a calculation error, added a "+" instead of a "-" and revert to the global cooling caused by man scares of the 60's. The cure will remain the same- Money.
The MSM has been tauting calamity since I can remember. About 1964 Paul Erlich and others were claiming what a disaster it would be if the earth doubled its human population, you know, worldwide famines, out-of-control inflation as resources became scarce, economic depression, etc. Well, the earth has more than doubled its human population, and the predicted disasters did not take place. Around 1973 the Club of Rome announced that the environmental and economic dislocations would bring about the end of civilization by the year 2000. That year came and went, and civilization still chugs along, though somewhat worse for wear. About the same time many “experts” were predicting that the world was about to enter another ice age. Conclusion: the more the media hypes a coming disaster, you can discount it in direct proportion to the amount of time they spend hyping it. So it is a safe bet that global warming is nothing more than media-created nonsense. On the other hand, the MSM ignores actual dangers, such as terrorism, illegal immigration, and the looming debt crisis.
I remember all that overpopulation/coming ice age stuff, too. That has a lot to do with why I don’t buy global warming.
I forgot another years-long MSM hypefest. Remember how we were all going to die of skin cancer as the ozone “hole” grew larger and larger. The ultraviolet rays of the sun were going singe the surface of the planet and we were all going to have the retinas of our eyes burned and go around blind with ugly blotches on our bodies. The “experts” kind of got that one wrong, too, didn’t they? Hype, all hype, so that the ignorant masses will buy their rags and tune in to the 6pm news and to hear the latest dire false predictions. The MSM has been no better than the Nat’l Enquirer for many years. The MSM is to the Truth what pro wrestling is to sports. (Hey, that would make a great tagline, wouldn’t it?)
Al Gore should be arrested when he returns to the US. He is fomenting hatred of the US. It is beyond despicable for Gore to make these statements. He is even more anti-American than Jimmy Carter and John Kerry.
Who said liberals are tolerant? If Gore had his way, Bush would be burned at the stake. Gore sounds like Hitler and other totalitarians. Despots cannot tolerate dissent. The global warming nazis are coming for us. They will control our lives to reach their grand Utopian vision to rid the planet of human impact.
I think your wrong about the tax making it too expensive to heat your homes.
The goal is to get the tax passed in the first place to establish jurisdiction.
It will be so small, at first, only $1.00 per household per year.
Then ,over time, the “emergency” will get larger and the amount will be $100 per year, then $200.
There is no end to the amount of money to be made on carbon. Only a fool would let the UN tax them. I hope the US says Hell NO!
Bill Steffen, as well.
