I love the Christmas Holidays as I enjoy spending them with family and friends, but I am painful aware that some children will receive nothing for Christmas and that is where the Marine Corp Reserve Program "Toys for Tots," has always stepped to gift wrap a smile and simple toy for a needy and worthy child in the area.
I served in the NAVY for 7 years and it was wonderful to watch as Marine Corp Reserve and their wives would collect and wrap toys in their spare time. One year I even had the chance to drive around several Marine Reservists, who collected the toys in full dress uniform and with a smile.
So I am asking all my fellow Freepers, Vets(especially American Legion Members, Post 8{DC here} and even those active and reservists lurkers(I know you are here, I started out the same way)to give a toy to the "Toys for Tots Program."
Will do but only American made from me.
We had two boxes at work. They didn’t even begin to hold all the stuff we brought in.
It’s a truly great charity.
Gotta covered there.
bump for publicity
I haven’t even had a chance to buy anything yet though I know other people at work have been very generous. Is there a website where I can send a monetary contribution instead?
My husband and 12-year old son happily did so already! What a great charity!
We collected at work as we do every year, and I’m happy to say I did contribute, but I know I could have done more. It is a very worthwhile charity.
Thanks, I was just about to post it, but decided to check because Freepers are always on point.
I love the program because you can walk away feeling good and you know the Marine Reservist and their families love the program too.
Great to see you, Kevin, and what a great idea!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
“Is there a website where I can send a monetary contribution instead?”
While I’m just a never-served civilian, I think the first URL below
is the official website (same as that in post 9).
There is a “Donate” button on the left-hand upper side and a FAQ button.
The second URL below goes to the “Donation Central” page.

Absolutely. With all the scams and hoaxes going on out thre, it's good to know there's one like T4T that's 100% legit.
Our dance group does a benefit every year.
Last nights take...140 New Toys and $423.00.
It does make you feel really good to be a part of it.
I want to help do my part as well and so Sean, Mark, Tom and Chris will all be getting calls this week.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well and it is a great program because of the Marines, families and those who donate.
Toys for Tots is a wonderful program.
The media and ass-hats like Murtha make the Marines out to be a bunch of bloodthirsty murderers. But what we on FR, and I'm certain, most of the rest of America knows, is that the Marines are among our very best and brightest. And when the drive comes up, I'll be donating, and personally thanking every Marine there, not just for the Toys for Tots, but for their service.

Wasn’t one of the first acts Bubba pulled in office was to stop the Marines from any involvement with “Toys for Tots” ? Then was forced by the public opinion polls to reverse himself .
This year, it’s expanded - everyone in our business complex has stuck out a bucket to collect donations to add to the buying fund. One of the (few) American toymakers we deal with, who makes traditional toys, is also doing a dollar for dollar match for products we order from them.
So anyone who’s thinking ‘gosh, I wanna make a difference’ - check with your employer, check with friends and family, check with fellow business people, and if you can, combine funds, work with a store or manufacturer, and see how you can take it to the next level.
