US to pledge $500 million to PA
Jerusalem Post ^ | Dec 15, 2007 | Associated Press

The United States will pledge about $500 million for the Palestinian Authority government in the West Bank when Arab, European and other nations meet next week, US officials said Friday.

The money would go toward a goal of $5.6 billion that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair hopes to raise to rescue the tattered Palestinian economy and reinforce institutions that would become the backbone of any eventual independent Palestinian state.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will deliver the pledge at a conference Blair has called Monday in Paris, the officials said. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the figure has not been announced and might be changed slightly

The money is part of world efforts to improve the Palestinians' financial position as new US-sponsored peace talks begin.

Rice cannot promise that she can deliver on the pledge, which must be approved by the US Congress. The money includes about $400 million that the White House has already announced, but that has not been approved by Congress.

Some members of Congress are worried that money spent to strengthen the West Bank eventually could benefit a rival radical-led government in the other, separate, Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip. Other legislators want greater assurance that the West Bank government has shed its long reputation for corruption and cronyism

Whew...For a second there I thought they were cutting taxes for the middle class in Pennsylvania and passing it off as a pledge. Palestinians...Oh yeah...This is like reading goofy science fiction.

500 million dollars for terrorists. I remember these vermin dancing in the streets and celebrating the attacks on 9/11. Evidently, we are witnessing an administration with a bad memory.

Globalism Kool Aid is being served at the White House and the State department. Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we will have no legacy.

I'll be calling Boxer & Feinstein to stop this "pledge" this coming Monday.

So let me see if I get this right. It's okay to send tax dollars to islamo-facists who: insists their state follow sharia law, executed Muslims who convert to Christianity, would never permit a Christian church to be built, would burn to the ground any synagogue. It's not okay to: have a nativity on public property, pray at a high school football game, mention god in a commencement address, have "under God" in the pledge of allegiance.

Where's the ACLU when the government is attempting to establish a religion in the Gaza strip?

Why don’t we just sweep $500 million into a pile and burn it ?

seriously..
When I see stories like this, it get pissed to no end when I think of how much of that money could got to much better good staying "at home", or better yet, back in Americans pockets where it belongs.

Pali's need to start learning how to take care of themselves and quit blaming everyone and everything for their plight.

And, I now return myself to reality.

We aid Fatah because they fight Hamas.

We also aid Sunnis, some former shooters of Americans, in Anbar in Iraq. Because they now oppose Al Qaeda.

Today's enemy of my enemy is my friend - today.

$500 m to buys weapons and train the Al Aqsa Brigade who, I just recently learned, is labelled a terrorist group by our own govt. Search and read the article: “Why Rice’s ‘peace’ will kill more Jews.”

We have aided Fatah for a long time. And we did so long before they were going head to head with Hamas. We’re just idiot sticks as it applies to the Palestinians IMO.

When your government leaders trash Israel for taking out terrorists and building a wall, all you can do is shake your head in shame.
