Mitt Romney stepped up his attacks on GOP rival Mike Huckabee on Saturday, saying his statements that the Bush administration's policies overseas demonstrate an "arrogant bunker mentality" sound like they're coming from a Democrat.
Huckabee wrote the comments in the January-February issue of the journal Foreign Affairs, where he said President Bush's approach has been "counterproductive" and urged a shift in diplomatic tone.
"I had to look again," Romney said in Humboldt, Iowa. "I said, 'Did this come from Barack Obama? Or from Hillary Clinton? Did it come from John Edwards?' No. It was one of our own. It was Gov. Huckabee.
"He said the Bush administration is guilty of an 'arrogant bunker mentality' that has been counterproductive here and abroad. I simply can't believe that. I can't believe he'd say that. I'm afraid he's running for the wrong party. The truth of the matter is this president's kept us safe these last six years."

The process for Reagan didn’t start with him being pro-choice. The process started when he signed a bad bill into law. One which he regreted immediately. Reagan never supported abortion on demand or Roe v Wade.
Reagan was never pro-choice. The same can not be said for Willard.
The quote is “adamantly pro-choice.” Reagan was reluctant and unprepared when he signed th 1967 bill. He was NOT adamantly pro-choice.
You know who is adamantly pro-choice? People like Kate Michelman, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Teddy Kennedy, etc.; people who say “hell yeah we have to have abortion on demand, banning partial birth abortion is just a slippery slope, etc.”

Dear God. What an idiotic, ludicrous, naive statement. Desiring illegals to hold up their heads and be proud? Of what? Huck may be worse than Carter only because Carter never had to handle the crisis of illegal immigration.
I’ve gained some respect for Romney after this. In the past he is one of the few Republicans to actually defend GWB and praise him for the good things his administration has done.
He’s also being promoted by Dobson and Newt.
I said a long while ago I was supporting Thompson because he has a conservative record and could keep the coalition together.
McCain had alienated too many people.
What happened? Rudy’s supporters thought they could screw conservatives and push social conservatives out of the party and force Rudy own everyone’s throats.
Romney supporters long ago decided in their elite meetings that Romney could have a makeover and be turned into a conservative, so they set about destroying Thompson because he was an impediment. The problem is that they only succeeded in hurting Thompson, Romney has never really moved much from where he was.
Now we have open warfare between the fiscal small government conservatives and social conservatives. Social conservatives by supporting Huckabee are basically putting the screws to the Rudy wing of the party. make no mistake, the Rudy wing started this bloodbath. But in the process social conservatives are going to destroy themselves if they go through with Huckabee and take everyone else down with them. Huckabee is a Liberal snake that cannot be trusted. even on Judges. especially on judges. His discernment and judgement are too questionable on too many issues to believe he could successfuly pick a good judge.
And Dobson is a good example of that. he let his emotions get in the way and held on tight to Miers with all red flares going off. No wonder he supports Huck. And newt, Newt wants power. he sees the way to power being through the social conservatives and as a plus he gets to hit back at the conservative power makers that nixed his run because he was too “controversial” a candidate. At this point I’m sick of both of them and the evangelicals AND fiscal conservatives here.
I’m a conservative. And a Christian. And I refuse Rudy and Huck. If the party’s base on the ground comes to its senses, let me know. But I won’t support their petty blood wars OR their eventual candidate if it comes to be Huck or Rudy. That candidate will lose in a landslide anyway and bring on Hillary in that instance. sadly, she’d be better then either one only because Republicans might actually fight her.

I am in complete agreement. When I saw that headline, I was angered but I know how headlines can go, so I read the whole thing and that was it for me. Strike one was his criticism about Hurricane Katrina, strike two was the fact that his own state party is mounting a campaign against him, and this is strike three to me. I want to see him walk a mile in GW’s shoes.
I have always really liked Hunter, but can he rise to the top? I have concerns about Romney but at least he’s right on this. Fred, FTW?

I pray I won't have to vote for Huckabee or Ron Paul. I don't believe either will win the nomination but today I certainly don't dismiss that possibility.
