PROUD NEW U.S. CITIZEN !!!
Posted on 12/15/2007 11:37:37 AM PST by Live Free NH
After being a Legal Permanent U.S. Resident for the past 35 years (Canadian citizen /my hubby is U.S. citizen by birth), yesterday December 14, 2007, I was sworn in as a U.S. CITIZEN at the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH !! I am SO PROUD and SO EXCITED !!
93 new citizens were sworn in from 33 different countries! It was a WONDERFUL ceremony ! Every nationality you could imagine was represented !
Within 3 hours of getting sworn in, I went to my local Town Hall and REGISTERED TO VOTE ! So I will be "good to go" for the New Hampshire Primary on January 8th ! whooo-hooo !!!

Good question.
I have considered it many times over the years. However, while my parents were still alive in Canada, and with immigration laws constantly changing on both sides of the border, I was always nervous that if I needed to go back to Canada to LIVE (say to help my aging parents) that I might have complications if I had become a U.S. citizen. Perhaps my fears were unfounded - but with laws getting changed, I wanted to be on the safe side. I figured as long as I was still strictly a Canadian citizen, there would be absolutely NO problems going back over the border and taking up residence. My parents passed on in the late 90’s after periods of failing health. That is no longer an issue for me, and after going through annoying hassles with Green Card renewals, it was TIME to now be a U.S. CITIZEN !!
I love this country dearly, and have actually been a citizen “in my heart” for a long time !

That's government for you, so typical of government, unless ? it's a tax bill... then they move like grease lighting.

In passed history, one person did make a difference.
You could be a great influence for and to the people around you in a liberal state like NH.
I like Duncan Hunter too, and wished he had a better chance and name recognition, but, when I saw Fred Thompson enter the race, I knew we had a winner there.
I will respect your choice with Duncan Hunter, but, as time get's closer to the NH primaries, and if Duncan Hunter seems to not be getting any traction, I would hope and wish you could give Fred Thompson another look.
I am hoping for a GOP ticket to beat Hillary in 2008 that says ( THOMPSON/HUNTER .... 2008 ).
